Chandler SDE-2 Stereo Digital Echo SDE2 Modulation Delay Echoplex Analog RARE
Up for auction is my Chandler SDE-2 Stereo Digital Echo. It brings a tear to my eye to list this jewel.but I have to downsize my hardware. Thus.I unfortunately must bid it a fond farewell. This thing sounds truly remarkable. It is a digital delay(echo) but the"Hi-Cut" filter knocks"just enough" off the top frequency to give the unit a very fluid analog-like sound. Dial in a medium/long echo/delay. Engage the hi-cut filter, add a touch of modulation and you've got yourself an"Echoplex" in a one space rack unit. On short delay times(with modulation tweaks) you can go from subtle to extreme chorus/flange. This is the rarer SDE-2 version of the Chandler Echo and has the valuble INPUT LEVEL control(and"chickenhead" knobs) Cosmetically it is in very nice shape for it's age. There are a few scratches ... moreon the top and around the mounting holes(from rack mounting in a previous life) and a little scratching on the top and bottom edge,but the front panel is very clean. I just fired her up and she is sounding as good as ever! This unit features an array of useful outputs: You've got DRY output, DELAY output and the fantastic sounding +/ MIX outputs(which add a wonderful wide spaciousness to the signal) that is a joy to the ears. I've just tested all input/output/footswitch jacks as well as all knobs and buttons and LEDs and it is ALL working just great. I am really gonna miss this one. I considered hacking it apart and trying to rehouse it in a pedal enclosure.but decided just to let it go instead. UTC VM-4 Varimatch 300 watt Modulation transformer
This came from a vintage home-built transmitter that I got from the estate of an old ham. The only information I could find on the transformer is from a 1937 RadioLab catalog which says the VM-4 is a Varimatch modulation transformer so designed that a very wide range of impedances matching combinations is obtained. Maximum audio power 300 watts. Will handle any power tubes to modulate a 200 to 600 watt Class C input stage. The cost listed was $19.11 which was a lot of money in 1937. I checked the resistance of the windings and to the case with reasonable values. I applied 300 volts between the windings and the case with no leakage current measured. I also applied some AC to the primaries and got output from the secondaries. It has some iron to it and weighs 28 lbs. This is a high voltage device with exposed high voltage connectors. Up for grabs is a 49 key vintage retro classic pulse code modulation keyboard synth. It runs on AA batteries or easy to find 9v power adaptor. I tested it and everything works perfectly. Only flaw I can find is a minimal scratch on the bottom and the everything else is in great condition. It has some awesome standard 80's and video game like sounds. It really shines in the drum department it has a bunch of different rythms and an expandable drum pad(not included) Perfect for a circuit bending project and I think this would be a great candidate for a midi retro fit. I have played with this a bunch and it sounds awesome through different effects although its preset synth sounds are limited. It also boasts true stereo and has its own speakers. The Cobra 2000 has amazing receive/ ears and can pick up stations that others cannot. This is because they are dual conversion receivers, most CB's are only single conversion. This makes them much quieter to pick out distant stations. They do not have that harsh background noise than these new radios made today have. These Cobra 2000's have a lot of crystals. Mixers, IF detectors and receiver stages that all have to be aligned and peaked for optimum operation. This is very critical ... moreon Sideband as that is very narrow banded. They have a working frequency counter that show you the true transmitting frequency and this one was calibrated to an external reference standard. if the counter is off. The whole radio will be off freq. This unit has a few needed performance enhancements- upgrades 1. This unit has 120 Channels. This is done by using the better method of crystal switching. So you get no missing gaps. The tone control has been replaced with a 3 position switch to get the(3) 40-ch bands. 2. This lets you get 40 extra channels above and below the normal 40 channels. All the way up to 27.885 MHz and down to 26.515 to catch all the free-band skip action. 3. The clarifier has been unlocked. This lets both the receive and transmit stay on the same frequency, a stock rig has the transmit fixed and it drifts over time. 4. The NPC mod has been installed.
