The unit seems to work.I didn't try to do a calibration. Etc but it receives fine. I made up some"B" Batteries using 7 ea 9V batteries to power the unit(I will include these batteries with the sales) I tuned in several local AM stations both at the high and low end of the band and had audio out of the headphone jack. remember that the headphone jack is expecting a 2K ohm headphone which was used in the days this unit was popular.modern low impedance headphones will have low level) The meter indicated when a station was tuned in. There is some minor corrosion on the"A" battery(D cells) and I have done my best to clean it with a wire brush and a Dremel tool. Metal on battery clips has not deteriorated and is still there. 1949 Transvision model FSM-1 field strength meter in attractive grey crackle finish metal cabinet. This was used to test and adjust TV/FM antennas. Comes as complete as shown with all tube. Often missing individual calibration chart, original knobs, channel escutcheon and brown Bakelite handle. This is a later version with sound jack. Cosmetics are very good overall, glass and meter graphics are nice, just some light surface rust to the top and inner metal areas. There is a chip in the meter housing on the bottom left. The General Instruments tuner works freely but will need lubrication, looks well made, might even work, I know not to test it. Transvision items from the late 40's.
