Up for auction is an original GILBARCO(Gilbert& Barker) Model 996A1L Electric Gas Pump that has been made into a TEXACO Sky Chief"Ethyl" gas pump. This pump comes with a period-correct nozzle and a new hose. The metal and skins have a few dents in them and the doors have a couple of wrinkles and do not fit real well(see the pictures) But the pump is in fair condition considering that it is 60 plus years old. The site glasses are new, and the globe on top is a reproduction and has been made to light up. The inner pump has been removed. This pump stands about six feet tall in overall height with the globe on top. Although not a professional restoration. And the paint has a few runs, the paint and colors are very vibrant. This central office, I believe, was put into operation sometime in the mid-1960s. Vintage General Electric Light Values Exposure Meter in Leather Case
My Dad was interested in photography from Navy days sailing the Mediterranean in the 50's. Till he finally got a digital camera and amassed hundreds of pictures on it. He was also an engineer and as such over the years acquired quite a collection of photographic odds and ends, cameras, meters and parts which I am selling for his estate, to benefit Mom. This is one of those items, a General Electric Light Values(Foot Candles) Exposure Meter that appears to be an engineer's dream. Made of highly enameled metal, the meter appears to work- at least the needle moves in response to light- but no guarantee is made as to the accuracy of the piece. I remember the archaic LVS(Light Value System) that showed up on the Kodak Retina's and some other cameras of the 1950's, mainly because they were boogers to disengage. All that is water ... moreunder the dam, because this is a neat collector's piece. It does have some marks, particularly on the back(see photos) and the leather case has some sewing coming loose. The meter is 3 3/4 long, and 2" wide, and is weighty. Another beautiful example of the halcyon days of photography. This is a vintage GE made in the USA analog amp meter. From the design. I'd guess it was made in the late 60's/early 70's. Marked X4 442 on the back side. I tested the functionality by briefly connecting a 9v battery to the meter. The needle responded normally. Mild to moderate cosmetic wear. Scuffs to the faceplate. Calibration screw has wear. There is a bit of debris inside the unit that makes noise when you shake it. Probably a bit of dirt, shouldn't affect the functionality, but I thought I should mention it. WORKS! From GE General Electric. here is vintage. EXPOSURE METER(Light Meter) MODEL TYPE DW-68(is on the label of unit) SEE PHOTOS- GUC Good to Great Used Condition. Some rub wear faint scratches. PHOTOS SHOW THE ARROW MOVEMENT when exposed to brighter light(we used a pocket flashlight for testing) Also has a VERY LONG MATERIAL(cloth type) that is black and a tad wrinkled. Selling as is as shown in photos& noted above. YES questions welcome. YES there is a pouch case we are sending along as a FREE ITEM to protect the Meter yet not sure if this is original(there is a handful of variations of the cases& pouches) this one is leather with some marks that will protect the unit. The Supplementary numbers in red. Below the arc, represent db levels from-20 to 0 to +3, corresponding to the reference level on the upper arc. This meter is in great condition. The Weston Electric 862 M VU Meter has been the standard in the Audio industry for many many years. This meter does not have scale illumination lamps.
