Vintage General Electric Brightness Meter : 1920-1950 : Foot lambert
This is a very hard to find old brightness meter made my General Electric. Also listed on the side are M. Luckiesh and A.H. Tayor of Lighting Research Laboratory. Unsure of exact age but it resembles others instruments of this type from the 1920's-1950's. It includes several interesting pieces of paper that help date the unit and provide some back story. It appears to have been used in Hollywood California from the late 1940's through the 1960's. I believe the plastic case is bakelite. The meter has been tested with D batteries and is working. Though I cannot say if it is reading accurately. Condition is very good. When I received this item it had black foam tape to pad the case- this foam tape had degraded over the years and left sticky black residue on several areas of the meter. I was able to clean it off with no problems ... moreexcept for the round clear plastic disc that covers a text card- this was permanently stained and warped. It also got on the type printed paper, which is why I have put it in a plastic sheet. Other that that it is in great shape. The wood box is also very nice and in good condition. The wheel inside turned. Just to check. I plugged in an electric drill to the meter and it turned much faster. There is a black mark on the wheel and I stopped the drill there and took a photo. Japanese 1943 WW2 era DC Ammeter by YEW. Yokogawa Electric Works. Model# K305453 Beautiful resin construction with original brass screws. Comes with original wooden case. The back has japanese characters written on it and the year of 1943. The wooden case has the same. It has a few scuffs and scratches and the carrying case shows it's use. One of the brass screws has water damage and there is something loose inside the meter. Please see the close-up photo of the dial- it has been slightly weathered. I have tried the meter and it reads. Though needs to be calibrated. It has not been tested beyond that and is sold As-Is. It is a beautiful and rare display piece for any collector.

WESTERN ELECTRIC combination volt& ohm meter. Post WWII era. Heavy Bakelite casing, clean and totally intact. The interior is clean with a BELL battery in place, not corroded. The volt meter works correctly to measure house current. The ohm meter is untested due to the battery age. The knobs turn easily; the connections are clean. The wires are supple and intact; the prongs are clean and intact. The box measure 5.75" x 5.50"x4.25" approx, and weighs 1# 14 oz. The wires are 46" long with prongs. This instrument was rescued from a camp on Lake Winnepesaukee many years ago and has been used occasionally in an inside workshop. This is a very unusual antique Portostat 0-300 D.C. Amperes meter gauge made by Allen Electric. This circa 1930's classic gauge is great looking with a polished copper plated brass housing and period style graphics on the antique toned dial face. I am not sure what specific use this was made for. But from what I've found it was likely an automotive or possibly radio current measuring instrument. This meter is in nice original condition with some minor plating loss on the housing. The glass is clear with no issues. It measures about 2-1/2 inches at the face and 3 inches at the base. The terminals on the back are not corroded and have the nuts and washers still attached. This sharp looking gauge would be a great addition to a collection or would be an awesome piece in a period style artistic endeavor. Thank you for looking.

I do not know what kind of equipment this came from. But the meter is obviously very old. It is a Simpson Electric, Alternating Current" has three terminals on the top, and still has the original wiring. Some of the black paint is scraped off, there is some surface rust, but someone who knows how could restore this to a very nice showpiece- it is in very good condition for its age!

1909-13 General Electric GE I-10 Thomson Watthour 3 Dial Power Meter, 2 Wire
I was excited to dig this out of the basement at the estate sale of a man who lived to 103. He worked for electric companies his whole life and has some great vintage tools. This meter has been wired with a power inlet as well as a plug. I plugged it in and then plugged a lamp into the inlet and it turned on immediately. I think he may have it wired to actually monitor power usage. But I can't be sure. Either way, it's intriguing that it's wired and it's in beautiful shape compared to others sold. I HAVE NOT OPENED IT OR DONE ANY TESTING BEYOND THIS. Description: This is a General Electric I-10 Thomson Watthour Power Meter with two wires and three dials. This model was produced from 1909 to 1913. There was a serial number on the plaque. But it has been filed off. The glass is intact and in great condition and the plaque is ... moreoriginal. It measures 7 inches long by 6 inches wide and 4.25 inches deep. The circular face is 5 inches in diameter in total and the glass portion measures just over 3 inches across. This unit was developed to measure low capacity power loads from individual residences. This is a unique design with no features being used in later models. Condition: Very good overall. I haven't entirely dusted it off or cleaned it whatsoever so it could be cleaned up to look even nicer than in my photos. I believe there was a paper label on the back which was removed. Also. Interestingly it looks like the serial number was intentionally filed off. Other than these imperfections and some typical cosmetic nicks and missing paint to the exterior it's an excellent example. The glass is excellent with no scratches or cracks. The porcelain? plate with the dials is bright and clean as well. Please inspect pictures. Shipped FREE via USPS with appropriate care. Thank YOU!
