Vintage General Electric Wattage Meter Tester -Unique- Must See!
Vintage General Electric Wattage Meter Tester-Unique- Must See! This old G.E. wattage tester is in really nice shape. From what I was told it was used by a sales rep to show the lower wattage usage of the new General Electric products compared to older or competitor's examples. It makes sense since there is 2 inputs and a switch to show the wattage each is putting out. But I'm not sure that is what it was used for. It does have a nice wood grained case and a hefty handle. It has been tested and does work. I tested a 100 watt bulb in a table lamp which show the results in the one photo. I also tested the same lamp and bulb with a new tester and it showed 99 watts(but the new tester did not break it down to tenths of a watt) The tester weighs almost 18 pounds and measures 13" x 9"x 9" The case does have a few marks on ... moreit which may or may not polish out. I did not try to. No dents or other apparent damage. Handle, hinges and latches are also in very good shape. Al most all of our vintage items come from Pittsburgh area estates. I'm not an expert on vintage camera equipment so I am not going to make any statements as to the age of this light meter but I believe it does work. Well.the needle moves when I point it at a light. When I was a kid(in the 70's) my family use to run around gathering old cameras and equipment for my collection. Now I am putting them to good use for mission work over seas. I'm cleaning my closets. Antique 1909 General Electric High Torque Induction Test Meter Oak Carrying Case
Very well preserved General Electric Thomson High Torque Induction Test Meter solid oak carrying case. This large case is made of 1/2 thick quarter sawn oak and was assembled using a splined miter joint for strength. Chromed brass hardware is in good working condition. The front clasp has some of the chrome worn off from use. The metal knobs on the sides were used to attach a leather carry strap(not included) The instructional label inside the lid indicates the latest patent date(April 6. 1909) and the printing date of the label(December 18, 1909) The serial number 2068420 is stamped into the wood on the upper back edge. The box measures 8" square x 10 1/4" tall. Inside measurements are 7" wide x 7 3/16" deep x 9 1/4" tall. The box was refinished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand polished to a soft ... moreluster with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. This is an AWESOME lamp! What a cool Christmas gift for the person who has everything! This heavy meter lamp is 22" tall. 6.5" wide and 7" deep. The Duncan Single Phase Watthour Meter was made by Duncan Electric Mfg. Co. in Lafayette, Indiana. The meter dial spins when the light is on, just like the meter on the side of your house! The shade is 8.5" tall and does have some marks on one side, but no holes, tears or odors. The wood base is very sturdy. It has a new 8' cord and apparently uses a 3-way bulb, but a regular bulb works, too. The brass colored housing does show some signs of wear but just enough to add to its charm.
