Boston 3 Star NE Ultra Cornet 1885 with Original Case and Original Mouthpiece
Please find an excellent condition vintage 1885 Boston Musical Instrument Manufactory 3Star NE Ultra Bb/A cornet. This gorgeous instrument comes with 2 cases. The original and a brand new custom deluxe Getzen cornet case befitting this beauty. The case has an interior snap open compartment for music storage as well as a storage compartment below the instrument. Also included are 2 cornet short shank cornet mouthpieces. One I believe is the original but does not have a name on it. The other is a vintage HN White cornet mouthpiece. Both are in good condition. Personally I think this instrument plays best utilizing a Bach 3C short shank cornet mouthpiece. The Boston 3Star NE Ultra cornet is the only turn of the century American cornet that is universally recognized as a superior instrument. The Boston"NE Plus Ultra" cornet, known casually ... moreas a"Boston Three Star" The serial number on this horn is 8544, putting the date of manufacture at 1885 and is from the"golden era" of Boston instruments popular with players and collectors alike. This particular wrap and design was so incredibly popular, it was made without any changes in the design from the mid 1880's through mid teens, and was played by some of the biggest names in the cornet world including the man himself, Herbert L. Clarke. In fact, it was the first cornet he ever purchased for himself. The horn has been chem cleaned and thoroughly cleaned inside and out. All dings and dents were removed. A small wear patch has been place just in front of the 3rd valve casing on the underside of the bell. You really have to look close to find it it was so well done, please see picture showing same. The horn plays well in tune in the Bb configuration, good intonation in all registers. There is one extra slide that changes out to put the instrument in A. Vintage Boosey & Co Silver Plated Cornet w case original case
This is a Boosey& Co. Vintage Cornet. Serial No. 72339 made in England. It is light valve. The mouthpiece is Size 3. A silver plated music holder comes with it also. The case is very old and needs to be repaired but still holds the instrument. This is a beautiful ornate instrument made in England in 1906/1907. This can be verified by looking up the serial number above. The are a couple of dents and the plating needs to be refurbished but it is in working order. Bach Mercedes 881 cornet - New in 1982 with 7C mouth piece and case
Up for bid is a Vincent Bach Mercedes cornet purchased new in Jan. 1982 when I was in band. I played for about three years and it has set in a closet ever since. It is in very good condition and functions perfectly with two minor dings that don't show up in the pictures that could probably be removed. No dents or bends in the bell whatsoever. All four slides are free and always have been- we were taught to keep vaseline on them. The mouthpeice is included- Vincent Bach Corp. 7C. Also included is a music clip, one full and one partial bottle of valve oil, vinyl coated flexible cleaning brush and a mute. Olds Special Cornet (1963/4)
Very nice cornet serial# 4593. All original no replacement parts. A small amount of dimpling on crook. I don't believe in beating the little dents flat but leave small dimples after the metal has been evened up. That way the pure sound is saved. I have played this horn and find it very well in tune top to bottom. Very good compression. Slides and valves are wonderful. Easy to play and with a smooth singing sound. Up for bids is a very Rare 1908 Conn The Conn-Queror small version Cornet in keys of A. Bb, and C.This set is 105 years old, WOW! This is a complete set which also makes this a very collectable piece.This cornet only measures 12 3/4 inches in length(normal length of the Conn-Queror is about 14 3/4 inches)This is the only Conn-Queror cornet I've ever seen like this.All the slides have 2 lines, one for key of A and the other for Bb.With the small replaceable slide in and all slides pushed in it plays in C.The small replaceable slide is marked with a"C" on the ferrule.There are no dents and only a few flee bite tings in the crook of the bell, hardly visible.The valves have decent compression and don't show a lot of wear.This is a small bore as indicated on the second valve casing with a"S"The bell has a gold wash ... moreand the rest of the horn has a beautiful satin silver finish with a polished finish on the engraving that is just beautiful.The valves have good action and all slides are in good condition and move just as they should.This complete original set includes a model 18 and correct#2 model mouthpiece, the music lyre, mute and cleaning rod.The mute also has a satin finish to match the horn.The case is in good condition considering it's 105 years old.If your looking at this listing, then you probably know what your looking at.Have fun bidding and good luck. De Kay Cornet - American Triumph - Playing Condition with Case
This is a De Kay American Triumph Bb cornet. Perfectly playable condition, with a Costello A mouthpiece and beat-up case, which is ugly but closes securely. I bought this horn on the street in New York City twenty years ago. It plays nicely! The valves move freely. But it has been mostly in the closet for the last few years, and could use some slide oil. The spit valves have nice cork on them and function properly. There were a few dings when I bought it, but I have not added any of my own. Please see the pictures for inspection, and message me for a closeup shot of any part of this horn, I will be happy to provide it. The bell reads: De Kay AMERICAN TRIUMPH ELKHART- IND. The serial number. On the middle valve casing, is 11806. The case handle has been repaired with copper wire. It's ugly. But while we're selling antiques, let me ... moresay that the copper wire has a lovely patina! The key for the case is not present. The Lyre(there's a picture of it in the case) is marked'IMPERIAL' and is for some other horn- it has a round straight shank, and the cornet takes a square right-angle shank. Someday you might meet the person who's lyre this is, and they will have yours, and you can trade! I love this horn. And I want it to go to a good home where it will be played. Offered for your consideration is an antique engraved cornet. It was obtained in an estate sale and I have no background information on it. It has no company name or serial number. I had it evaluated informally by a local music store and their best assessment is that it was manufactured in the 1880's or 1890's. Probably for mail order. They think it could have been made by Conn or York. The instrument is very tarnished. I applied some metal polish and it cleaned enough off for the engraved floral design to appear. Please note the dent shown in photograph#5. No mouth piece is included. All three valves work and the instrument is playable. At some point the spit valve probably broke off and was soldered over. States Issac fiske,maker,worchester mass.no patent dates or any other dates thats it except for the 3 valves the 1st valve has a 0 the 2nd valve has a 8 the 3rd has a 7. no other engravings to be found.the horn is 12 1/2 inchs from back of crook bend to edge of bell.measuring from top of key to bottom of valve its 6 1/2 in.the bell size is 4 3/4 in.across.lets talk condition,the 3 valves all seem to be free they go down and back up smoothly,there are some crimps in a couple of tube spots and some bracings that have come unsoldered,also the laquer seems to have been worn away to brass,and body dents and dings.the horn does come with the mouthpiece and 2 other pieces pictured.the case is in pretty good condition,the handle could use a new leather wrap,the hinges ... moreand latches all work quite well(no key to lock)This coronet is being sold as found as is.ok thats about all I can tell you.this coronet could be of historical music instrument significance since old Issac fiske was a pioneer of american instrument making,not saying this is a one of a kind but you dont see that many surviving fiske made horns, so get this one.if you have any questions please message me and I,ll try to help best I can,would like this instrument to go to someone that,ll really cherish it. thanks for the look

Vintage All Star Cornet - also WWII Navy memorabilia
This was my father's cornet that he played in the Navy during WWII. He was on a heavily targeted supply ship which I imagine accounts for the less than perfect condition of this instrument. It has that distinctive odor of tarnished silver(or brass.Not sure which, but almost certain it's silver) and a heavy patina which, along with the lack of lighting and"zoom" in the pictures, hides the engraved scroll-work on the bell. The stops are capped in what looks like mother-of-pearl. I will leave any polishing to the buyer since you may or may not wish to do so. It has"All Star Cornet" on the mouthpiece with a star between"All" and"Star. There is also a"1. 2, and"3" on the side of the stops and a"4795" along the body below the stops. Stop 2 sticks a bit. Conn Coprion bell(copper) from the 1960s in factory lacquered finish. ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY LACQUER. A great playing model in the Conn lineup(serial HXXXXX) this is a serious playing, lightweight,beautiful looking Conn cornet from the 1960s made when the Conn company was making good quality horns. Very pretty horn, and a wonderful player. One of the nicest, unused, near new looking Conn cornets I have ever seen, really amazing condition. Looks maybe 6 months old, not 40+years These are one of the best looking. Great playing Conn horns from that era, a good playing VERY nice condition American made instrument. This example has been not been restored in the past as far as I can see. It shows VERY little use/wear in finish,lacquer and brass/copper(coprion) is all in good shape. Looks to be a very low hours cornet, few spots of lacquer rub here ... moreand there, few small light scratches from a bit of use over the past 50 years. I cleaned and polished this lacquered horn by hand. Instrument shows little age/use evidence, retaining the wonderful qualities that make these early Conn instruments more than pretty pieces, but real players and such great long lasting well built horns. There is some slight evidence of use, a little nick/small scratch here and there in the original factory lacquer, no signs of any repairs ever having been done in the past, leadpipe clean and shiny inside. A rare example of a neat, fun model from that era, really nice design, mellow tone in the solid design. It really sings, fun to play. The original factory engraving is in like new shape, looks to be just as was from the factory. Reads"Director" on the leadpipe. Horn looks better in the hand than in these photos. These horns feel solid. Very comfortable in the hand, measuring at.468 bore, this one shows very pretty, NO dents or dings, it does NOT look the the age it is, very stylish and great player. Conn 80A New Wonder Cornet Gold and Silver BEAUTIFUL!!!
This is a beautiful example of a 1921 Conn 80A New Wonder. Extremely rare two tone brushed silver and gold covering most of the instrument. This horn is very beautiful and comes with the original case. Cleaning rod, and mute! I have not taken silver polish to this horn so it is a bit tarnished but in overall fantastic condition! I have included what the Conn Loyalist site had to say about the 80A New Wonder so you could learn even more about this horn. It is truly an incredible piece and for a horn that is going to be 90 years of age next year, it is amazing. You will not be sorry you bid on this horn unless you don't win! Again. I am letting go of some of the horns in my collection. If you need a vintage cornet for the group you play in or for solo work, you cannot go wrong with this incredibly gorgeous horn. Notice the micro-tuning mechanism just forward of the first valve. Also notice the"mechanism" attached to the first and third slides. This automatically adjusts all slides when the main tuning slide is pulled out to A. The 80A started out life as the"New Wonder" Then the"Victor New Wonder" and finally simply as"Victor" If you compare the"New Wonder" specifications of 1914 with the"Victor" specifications of 1957 you will notice the Victor gained 7 ounces in weight compared to 1914. I don't know when that weight was added. The 80A New Wonder has a#2½ bore(0.484" Also, this model 80A had top spring valves with adjustable spring strength, while the later version had bottom spring valves. A minor detail is the second slide which on this model is at a right angle to the body of the instrument, but on the later version angles back towards the player.
