I've had it for a while but it hasn't been used much in the last 2 years hence the reason for selling it. Clarke LV-8 Floor sander 8" drum
This is a working floor sander. I bought it off a friend and used it to refinish my bedroom floor. It works well. It is not as powerful as the newer units. The motor seems to struggle with the more coarse grit papers but it got the job done for me. Maybe it can be repowered with a newer motor. I would suggest a repower if you were going to use it commercially or you can just use it for parts. I no longer need this machine as my floor is done and I realize floor sanding is not for me. Belts are shot and pullys need wire brushed/cleaned up. Drum turns. Needs new electrical wiring from the motor plug on out, have all the original parts. Needs new drum pads. Vintage Clarke MV-8 Floor Drum sander
I've got a Vintage Clarke floor sander. It's in quite good condition and it does work. There are a few minor things wrong. On the front of the sander where the lid lifts up to expose sanding drum the metal is broke on one side impairing the hinging on that side of the lid. Shown in the last photo. It has the original instruction booklet! Also has the dust collection bag but it has a small hole it in as shown in photos. It is from the 1950's not sure of the exact year. This floor sander is in excellent condition with nothing else to purchase for years to come. Used sparingly by a former carpet and linoleum installer to smooth out occasional rough spots. I was told it has probably less that 25 hours of run time. It includes 3 boxes of sandpaper in Fine, Medium and Course grit. Those alone are worth a couple hundred dollars as there is nearly 50 feet remaining of the originally purchased 50 feet for all three types. The drum cover is brand new and in the original box. Yes it works! Is in pretty good shape though it has a few minor flaws as is to be expected in a piece of it's age. It has a broken piece on the top housing as you can see in the photos. The housing at the bottom also has cracks in it. The handles tend to slide off but am sure that could be remedied if it is intended to be used. The dust collector and bag are missing and still has the original electrical plug as you can see in the photos. The original instruction booklet has been preserved as well. The backing plate under the sanding discs is a little rounded but not tore up. These were listed separately previously but I am selling them as a set now for one low price. Clarke EC-8 8" Drum Floor Sander Working
Works good and bearings sound decent. Drum is in good shape but does show wear. Drum key is included. It has about 30 feet of heavy duty wiring on it that looks ok but it does have some electrical tape on it. The plug end on it has no ground prong but does have a ground plug lead sticking out of it. The plug should have a cardboard end cap on it as you can see the bare screw heads between the prongs. I don't see anything chipped.cracked or broken. Switch is working. Model EC-8 1 1/2 hp.18 amp, 115 volt. 5000 rpm. The bottom unit with the handle and mounts removed weighs 88 lbs before packing and I will double box it which adds more weight. Clarke MV-8 Floor Drum Sander and Sand Paper
Up for sale is one Clarke MV-8 Floor Drum Sander. The sander functions very well. Just finished sanding a large 2 1/2 story older home with southern yellow pine floors and it did an excellent job. Three partial 24" rolls of 60. 80 and 120 grit sand paper go along with it. See picture of crack in housing of dust pickup, but does not affect the function of the sander. It also has new belts installed on it.

This does run but needs a little bit of work. It has one broken belt that runs the drum and the drum mechanism that clamps the sand paper to the drum is locked up with rust so that would need to be taken apart and gone through, most of this is aluminum but the steel parts do have some rust. The drum spins freely by hand and the whole thing rolls well on it's steel castors, it has a heavy duty cord that is a little dirty but in good shape and very long. It comes with the dust bag and I may have the long J shaped tube that connects the bag to the machine but I am unsure at this moment, I will check and update this later. There is also a little corrosion on the aluminum. You can pick up in Farmington, MO. This was not my machine and I am not sure of it's previous life, I believe I have pointed out all that I can that is wrong with it.
