Vintage ceiling light fixture steel with porcelain socket and wiring
Vintage ceiling or wall mounted light fixture. It has the original porcelain socket and hold down ring. It also has the original cloth wiring and is in good condition. It is steel and painted white. There are some light stains and may need to be repainted. There is a hole in the side for a pull chain. The base is 5" across, 3 1/2" tall and the mounting holes are 3 3/4" apart. Antique Light Bulb PHELPS “HYLO” 1-16 cp TH base, plus Porcelain Socket
PHELPS“ HYLO” 1-16 c.p. antique light bulb with THOMSON-HOUSTON base. Plus THOMSON-HOUSTON socket. Up for auction is a scarce Antique Tipped Light Bulb. This is one of two old bulbs I am listing. Although I’ve done a little research before listing. I am not a bulb expert, so I will leave the final decision as to correct identification to the bidders. I will describe best I can. Please refer to pictures. This is a double labeled(inside and outside) bulb manufactured by PHELPS COMPANY. Detroit, Mich. Label states it’s a 110 v. HYLO/ 1–16 c.p. candle power) The bulb has a THOMSON-HOUSTON BASE. Bulb Dimensions(approx) 2 ½” diameter. 4” tall, 1 1/8” base, overall 5 1/8” 2 filaments: 1 triple looped higher in bulb(16 candle) And 1 smaller triple looped, lower in bulb(1 candle) PORCELAIN SOCKET: Thomson-Houston“knob-turn” style socket. The ... moresocket itself is not wired and there is no manufacturer marks on it. The socket knob is embossed with“250 V” 250 volt rating? on outside end. Although I don’t have the equipment to actually see if the bulb works. I can say that both filaments are intact and I did test the bulb with an Ohm meter, and can verify that there are continuity values on the meter. Contact of meter leads for testing the bulb, went from threaded hole to the brass ring on bottom. Normally one would think that the bulb should work with the proper electrical equipment. Given the bulb has two filaments, I can not say positively all is functional. If anyone can tell me if this conductivity test is sufficient for both filaments, or if there’s another way to test them separately with the ohm meter, I would appreciate a reply before auction end, and if I can do it with the meter, I will post the results. Additionally, I am unable to test conductivity with bulb attached to the socket, to see if the socket works, as the socket isn’t wired, and I am unfamiliar with disassembling it properly to find the proper contact points. Vintage Porcelain Lamp/Light Socket-1 1/2" Bulb-Industrial-Steampunk Parts
Vintage porcelain light bulb socket. Takes a 1 1/2" base bulb. Came off a late 1920's floor lamp. Was the center light. Has a side turn switch. No knob. Good overall condition. No cracks. Chips, or other visible damage. Socket itself is 3 1/4" long with another 1 1/8" metal base(not including threaded rod) Socket is 2 1/8" in diameter. Brass inside threads and contact for bulb look good with light tarnish. Two halves of porcelain body are held together with screws but I did not separate. Bottom wire connectors look OK with some light corrosion. Everything should work. Well made and simple technology. Good to re use or repurpose. Good for something!

For auction I have a Green Porcelain Shade Industrial Light w/ WEBER Fat Boy Light Socket. Glass Tip Light bulb, what I believe is original cloth covered twist wires, and an old porcelain/ ceramic wall mount fixture. On my recent trip up east I picked this set up at the Hollis, NH Flea Market. This set up was probably assembled, but I can just imagine this hanging in the rest room at an old service station of something. For some reason there are 4 small holes drilled around the permitter of this shade. I assume there was something hanging from it, but this is how it was purchased. The shade measures 12" across. The old clothcovered twisted wire a little brittle. If flexed the insulation between the copper wire and the clothcovering breaks. It is marked E with an arrow crossing it on the ceramic and its clearly marked Arrow inside the copper socket. I was told they all came from the same house so I would date it around that era. The copper socket has nice patina it is Arrow 250V 250W. The porcelain rim on the wall mount portion along with some other areas have fleabites please see pictures. No cracks or large chips found on the porcelain. It has a porcelain paddle~key switch that is in working condition. The fixture has minimal old house paint residue. I have tested the fixture and it seem to work just fine but I always suggest having it inspected by a professional. I have no idea to take it apart and wont mess ... morewith it to avoid damage. Here is an old light bulb electricity socket made of Porcelain. I doubt. But perhaps ceramic. Early 1900's. Interior socket space measures in diameter about 1 1/8" Outer diameter is 1 3/8" This was found in a lot of insulators from the oldest town in Texas.Nacogduches.
