SEARS CRAFTSMAN CONTRACTOR 2HP 6-1/8" JOINTER PLANER CAST IRON JOINER WITH STAND
This jointer looks like its in pretty good condition. When I received it. It had some minor surface rust on the beds and fence, which I removed. There is some slight pitting on the outfeed table, but I don't think this effects its function. I ran a few boards through it and it worked fine for me. I thought this would be a nice thing to have for some smaller boards but I haven't used it more than two or three times and see no reason to just hang on to it. This would be a great jointer to start out with. It had the stock belt upgraded with one of those link belts, a 2HP motor, and leveling feet on the legs. NOTE: I have not used this item extensively and offer no warranty or guarantee about anything related to its function. I am not a mechanic and by no means an expert on machinery. And so I am not in a position to offer anything more ... morethan my observations about the machine. I turned it on, fed wood through it, and it seemed to do the exact same thing my Jet jointer does. I have been burned in the past with people making purchases from me, breaking the item or switching the item I sold them out with a broken item and telling me I sold them something broken. I recently bought a box of miscellaneous parts at a Cabinet Makers' estate sale. In the box were several sets of planer/jointer blades. The sets were indivually wrapped but there was no indication as to what machine they went to. So here is the information on the third set: Set of three steel blades. No markings on the blades. The blades are 8 1/16" long. Which includes a 1/8" beveled& sharpened edge on the right-side edge. see photo) The blades are 3/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. These look new but I'm not sure so I listed them as'used' It looks as if these blades are made by blending two piece of steel together. If you look at the second and third pics you'll see a line where the metals were joined. The blades are SCARY SHARP! Hopefully you have machine these will fit!

For auction is a vintage Craftsman 4 inch Jointer planer. As can be seen by the provided photos it is in well used and aged condition but remains in very solid and usable condition. All parts including the blades spin freely and easily. There is not a pulley so you will need to provide that as well as the motor and belt. The Craftsman plaque obviously fell of some time ago. I have not done any cleaning outside of a quick dusting. It certainly could be fully restored and be a great addition to nearly any workshop. The motor is listed at 2 1/2 HP. Very powerful. As I recall, the RPM's are 3450. Table is 46" long, and notched to do rabbiting. A new machine like this will cost $650.00! Craftsman 4 1/8 Inch Bench Top Jointer/ Planer. Model# 351.217240. Used Condition I have not used it much but did test it on a few boards and adjusted blades for testing purposes. The blades are in used condition as well and could use a sharpening as the prior owner seemed to only use one end of the blade(about the first 3/4- 1 inch of the blade closest to the fence. Please see photos for accurate representation of this jointer for the grinding attachment for an Oliver 299 planer surfacer. This is marked Oliver part number 299-385. It is used prior to sharpening the planer blades and it is used to make all blades in head even with one another prior to grinding. Without this. You are not utilizing the planer properly and it is often lost and not included with most grinding attachments. Please make sure this is the model you need as there are a few different ones for same planer throughout the years it was made. The machine head is running and turning when this is used, and is run back and forth until all knives are same distance, whereby the jointing is done with all knives hitting planning surface exactly evenly when finished.
