These are the issues that are obvious to me but I don't know much about this type of machine. Vintage Cissell Industrial Commercial Steam Iron Brass Sole Plate
Here is an older"vintage" Cissell Industrial/Commercial steam iron with brass sole plate. Approx 6.5 lbs. This unit came out of a professional costume shop and must be used with an external source of steam with solenoid control valve for use as a steam iron. Cord is 4 wire type for control of solenoid steam valve by thumb-control microswitch. I used this iron as a dry iron only. So the 4th wire is not used, and a standard power plug was installed. Unit is type ACA15987. rated at 1000W 120V. Sole Plate is heavy brass, still quite smooth and blemish-free. Lots of evidence of use on the iron as the cork handle is well worn, and chrome plated shell is quite dull and discolored. Iron still heats up quickly and retains heat for a long time. However the thermostat control dial is a bit stiff and the knob hits the metal tube that houses ... morethe microswitch wires, preventing it from turning the whole way to the highest settings. cotton, linen) It could be forced, or the tube bent out a bit. I Never needed the highest setting, so it did not really bother me. You can get to about the"wool" setting before the knob hits the tube. Seems like a dumb design if you ask me! The iron seems to work fine now. But given it's age and heavy commercial usage, I am selling it AS-IS as a collectible only, but it could serve you well for some time to come, as I believe some repair parts are still available.
