Nice brass early mid century door lockset manufactured by Dexter for your consideration. This lockset comes to you nearly complete other than the two brass screws for the strikeplate catch and the original catch for the secondary locking latch that works with the turnkey. Most any brass catch would work for this. The large handle is solid brass and the thumb latch spring feels good for reuse. This set comes with two latches. One for the doorknob handle set latch and the other for the secondary locking latch. Most of the brass will clean up some as well. This is a standard 2 3/8 inch offset although it was taken off an exterior entrance door. There is no key although any locksmith could make one for this lockset. A nice addition for a vintage renovation. Vintage quality at a fraction of the cost with a low start. Vintage Salesman Sample Door Knob Dexter Single Bore Store Display For your consideration I offer a vintage Dexter salesman sample single bore door knob store display. The display came from an old hardware store in western Kentucky. Estimated vintage era is 1950s-60's. The ball knob measures approximately 1-5/8" across, the handle on the finger handle is 1-3/8" from tip to beginning of curve. Display overall measures 9-3/4" long, 4" wide and 4-3/4" tall. The lock works and door opens. Bottom has partial paper label. Reads: Dexter, solid brass, single bore screen and combination door lock, for doors 5/8" to 1-3/8" thick. Magnet does stick to some areas, may be due to inside metal rod but I am not sure. The condition is overall good with some moderate storage nicks and rubs on the wood and dime size tarnish ... morespot on ball knob. Will need additional cleaning. Zuni attr. DEXTER CELLICION Pin Mosaic Inlay Knifewing Sleeping Beauty Turquoise
Welcome! This knifewing figure was probably made by Dexter Cellicion. Note the similar wing shape to the picture on page 127 of Sei's"Knifewing and Rainbow Man in Zuni Jewelry. It was Ernie Bulow who did the work on this subject and I'll include some pages above. The upswept wings were Cellicion family and were misattributed in the past. This is a great example of that work and was beautifully made. The figure measures 1-3/4" high x 2-1/8" wide. The face shape was used by Alonzo Hustito. But he didn't do this wing shape. The turquoise is Sleeping Beauty mine and the coral is lovely too. All the stones, hand buffed and cut and set in stone to stone mosaic inlay work. Hand applied raindrops and silver wire work decorates the piece. Lots of great detail on the hat and tail as well as the wings.
