This attractive clock was professionally polished many years ago and still makes an excellent appearance. The case has some scratches and wear to the lacquered finish that is only noticed on close inspection and does not detract from its overall appearance. All four beveled glass panels are excellent. The Ansonia signed porcelain dial is excellent. The dial is signed at the bottom and the name is partially covered by the bezel. The eight day time and strike round Ansonia movement is running and striking properly but has not been serviced. Seth Thomas Empire No. 1 Crystal Regulator - 1909 - Working
This is the Empire Number 1 Seth Thomas Crystal Regulator clock which was shown in the Seth Thomas' sales literature in 1909. It started out with a polished gold finish which is now worn. It is 10-3/4" tall and 6-3/4" wide with a rounded corner base. It sports an original pendulum and works. Chimes and keeps time. The chime hammer leather has dried out so it needs to be replaced(hot melt glue is a good option) The beveled glasses on four sides are in good condition with one exception. I have pictured the left side which has a 1-3/4" hairline crack. There is a product available that can do a good job of fixing that(Hxtal or Hxtle or something like that) This clock comes with an appropriate key and has an upgraded decorated porcelain dial which has no defects. BEAUTFUL, GUSTAV BECKER, 2 WEIGHT, VIENNA REGULATOR WALL CLOCK
Up for auction is a Gustav Becker. 2 weight, Vienna Regulator wall clock. It has an 8-day, time and strike movement and ran well for several months in my son's office, recently. It is a very nice clock, but as with all antique clocks, it comes with some issues which I will address first. The crest is not original to the cabinet. But it is period and vintage. The finials are(3) also not original to the cabinet. Those are the major issues I have observed, but please remember, it is an antique that has had many years of service. The case is walnut and the finish appears to be mostly original. The cabinet is large. Approximately 43 inches tall and over 17 inches wide(oversize? The 8-day, 2 weight movement was manufactured by Gustav Becker. The serial number on the movement is#766121 which places the manufacturing date between 1885-1890. The ... morecabinet and the movement appear to be original to the to each other and I see no extra screw holes in the backboard. There are two stampings on the back of the movement, one for a metal awarded to Becker in France and the other has the Becker Name. I tried to show these in one of the photos. It has a 7” white porcelain dial in very good condition and it strikes on a bar every half hour. As a rule, I do not polish my clocks as I prefer the patina from years of use to the shine of new clocks, therefore, this clock may not shine like some would like, but it will polish up very nice if that is desired, but I leave that to the new owner. The weights have a few small dents consistent with the age and use of the clock. I have described everything to the best of my knowledge. As a collector. My opinion as to the current condition of a clock is my very best effort to disclose any details regarding the clock being altered or not in its original condition. I do not consider myself an expert on clocks, but you can bid with the confidence as you are being provided with good, knowledgeable information. If anything, I tend to provide too much detail. Up for auction is this very nice 1901 Ansonia Drop Octagon B Regulator Wall Clock. It is in very nice condition. There is a small wear spot on the dial(as shown) but the Ansonia logo shows nicely. It has the original label on the inside. It also has the typical angled movement that runs strong. The case is marked inside with it's first service in 1914. Glass and hinge in good condition. It has the original wooden latch for the bezel on the back of the clock. 12" dial. Overall dimensions: 25 x 17 x 4" Comes with pendulum and key. No worries. This is a SUPERIOR example of a Japanese made American style office regulator Clock in OUTSTANDING NEAR ALL-ORIGINAL BEAUTIFUL condition. Japanese Wall clocks are of excellent quality. Very well made. Japan sent many clocks to The United States around the turn of the century when a new trade law was enacted. The people in Japan copied the favorite American and German clocks, improved upon them, added some Japanese flavor and sent them to us and back to Germany! They were received favorably by the people of the world. These clocks were made very well, as well as keeping great time. When the Japanese copied them they also made many improvements. This particular model is an American Office Regulator type wall clock in SUPERIOR. NEAR ALL ORIGINAL condition. The only part not original is a beautiful correct replaced dial. Vienna Regulator Clock Movement and Dial
Time only quality made brass movement is stamped with the serial number'80648' The logo, and'REMEMBER, v.R.M. Co. The brass plates measure 2-3/4" wide x 3-3/4" high. The movement has the gut string wrapped around the main barrel. Applying pressure to the barrel the verge will move back and forth and the escape wheel rotates as it should. The movement does need cleaning. The porcelain dial has a 3-1/4" diameter recessed center and a 7-1/4" diameter brass bezel. The porcelain dial has several hairline cracks. This is an early 1900's(1918-ish) Minneapolis-Honeywell 8 Day 7 Jewel Model 77 Heat Regulator. It will adjust your heat up in the morning and down at night. I believe to be the first programmable thermostat! It is in Original Condition(minus the front glass which was cracked.So I replaced it with a plastic lens. Extremely easy to change,Just pushes out and you can put a piece of glass back in. It comes with one key that fits all shafts for winding and time setting.only sets time in one direction,That is the way it was manufactured and not broke. The thermometer is in tact and the clock regulates heat up and down as it should. Clock has been on my wall running for weeks, I do not attest to the accuracy of the clock(I am not a clock guy) But it does seem to keep good time during the time that I have had it. The dial is a plain London style. Unsigned and was originally silvered. It has a particularly large seconds dial which indicates that it most likely originally belonged to a semi- regulator clock or domestic regulator clock. The unfinished very substantial movement is constructed using various antique parts all set in a purpose built frame and made using yellow brass. Well turned substantial frame pillars of a tye frequently found on high grade London made clocks of the period. The dial feet are of the‘reversed’ type where the rigidity is provided by the front plate of the movement. The dial being attached only by very small screws, making demounting of the dial simpler. ... moreThe train wheels and most of the motion work are all antique and are particularly well made with accurately formed teeth and pinions of a standard suitable for this kind of clock. They were sourced from an extremely incomplete‘bare’ movement. All the rest of the steel work and under dial work is new as are the hands. The date ring requires engraving. The escapement requires to be completed. As originally intended this would entail the current(replacement) escape wheel being reversed and re-cut and a set of pallets constructed for a dead beat escapement. However if the buyer prefers the clock may be made in to anchor by just making a set of pallets for the escape wheel as it is. Also required is the completion of the bolt and shutter maintaining power device– the‘shutter’ in this case being a single substantial prong that projects close enough to the going train winding. I purchased this antique wall clock several years ago from a reputable antiques dealer in Illinois. It is labeled“Miniature Vienna R/A Regulator by Junghan’s Circa 1885. When compared with other images on line it may be circa 1890. It chimes on the hour& half hour and comes with two keys. This clock is in good condition except for the following: a few small age cracks. Slight discoloration on the right side of the top decorative piece and the ornamental piece on the bottom right of the clock is slightly askew. The outside measurements are 25.5’ H x 6.25’ D x 12’ W.

I had the movement(Schutz Marke high quality movement) completely cleaned/ serviced, and the case, and as you can clearly see from the pictures, is a stunning as ever. This clock case(workmanship) is one of the best I have ever seen, and the crown breathtaking. Gongs on the hour and on the half hour. does come with it's key. The outside measurments are 54 inches tall from it's tallest peaks and 19 inches wide from it's widest peaks and 7 inches deep.
