Offered for sale is a refaced Selmer soloist style mouthpiece for tenor saxophone. These mouthpieces were made in the 60's and have a longer shank to help with the intonation problems of the first soloists. This mouthpiece started out as a D opening and has been refaced by Steve Cutcher to a.101 tip. It really blows great! It started out really stuffy and quiet. And he made it much more free blowing while still maintaining the Selmer sound. The sound is crisp, clear, and very even all up and down the horn. Sort of a Rich Perry type of sound. This is a used handmade solid shank bit with a frog mouth piece made by Roy Robinson from Bryan. Texas. Roy owned Roy Bits& Spurs and made top quality bits, spurs, and saddle hardware. I used this mouthpiece for a number of years. Along with a 4AM for my medium-shank horns. I've moved on to a different size, and thus have no further use for either(the AM is offered in a separate auction) I bought this one used, and it shows typical signs of use and careless handling. Nicks and scratches are present on all surfaces, but all are so small as to be imperceptible in using the piece. The business end of the shank is somewhat out of round(see pic) but could easily be repaired with the right tool(I don't have one and, if you don't, your brass tech does) If you're not a world-class player, you won't notice a difference, so you can use this piece as is until you have other business at the repair shop. Vintage 1930's Selmer Airflow Short Shank Alto saxophone sax mouthpiece No Res
Auction for a Vintage Selmer Airflow Table B alto saxophone mouthpiece from the 20's 30's. Credit to Theo Wanne and his excellent website for information. This particular mouthpiece does show signs of use. Which is a good thing! It means someone found it was a player. However the important areas are still in tip top condition. Tip. Rails, chamber and table are all in super condition. I have pictures showing the bite areas. I can see two distinct areas that have bite marks/ indents. This looks like it will have had two owners from new. Just a guess! It is a Table B version and I've measured the tip opening as 1.25mm. That is to the rails not the top of tip. So this is about just under 1/16th of an inch. Length is 83.6mm from barrel to tip(very short) The mouthpiece is matched with the Selmer france ligature. Which came with the ... morempc. Just to make clear. This is a genuine vintage ebonite(hard rubber) short shank Selmer alto sax mouthpiece, which is a rare find. Check it out in Theo Wanne's museum of mouthpieces. Why mention Theo when I'm all the way over in the UK? Well Theo bought an old Martin Handcraft mouthpiece from me when I was saving to go to India on a Mission trip. Theo was kind enough to also make a donation to the school we were renovating after floods in the area of Jaipur. So it's been a while since then. But Theo is now considered a friend! Back to the mouthpiece.I have listed many photo's but let me know if there is a particular area you would like to see in more detail and I can upload more. Ok. That is about it. I feel confident that this is a C Melody, not Bb tenor, mouthpiece because of the relatively smaller backbore that makes it almost impossible to get on a tenor neck. It has only a few minor scratches/scrapes about the mouthpiece. The original hand facing is in excellent condition as is the interior. The tip measure right about.053" and the curve breaks at 42. Look at the photos, they haven't been worn except for the one time(1/2 day) The knees are reinforced. They are waterproof. All the straps, buckles and buttons work great.

WESTERN ART! You are looking at a vary rusty old grazing bit. Lots of rust. Plenty of patina. Vary sturdy and strong. Has some amazing engraved silver on both sides. Found it in an old barn cleaning about 15 years ago. I couldn't find a makers mark. And don't know what kind of silver is on it.
