Vintage Antique Bicycle Truss Fork Schwinn ? Rat Rod ratrod bike 26" balloon
Here's a good buy for someone. A really cool vintage truss fork. Let me tell you the bad stuff first. The threads on the steer tube are stripped. pretty much gone. The steer tube itself is bent and it also looks as if one of the legs are bent as well. I would assume that if you have the know-how and the tools. You could easily weld on another steer tube and straighten the one leg. I dont have that option. I've had this laying around for quite a while and I just cant remember what it came off of. I have seen some older Schwinns with this style fork so. Maybe a Schwinn? I do know that is came from a 26" balloon tire bike. It's a cool looking fork. Postal History Excellent content in this 3 page stampless folded letter written July 18. 1839 by Rufus Hillard in Brookline, Massachusetts and sent to Newton Jackson in Cornish Flat, New Hampshire. Writer discusses some interesting topics including a famous balloon ascension(read below) Buying& selling guns, a July 4th celebration and a visit to the Bunker Hill historic site. Postmark is a very nice Brookline. Ms manuscript town with a 12 1/2 cent rate mark. Letter fully intact and in great shape. Vintage Schwinn Pre-War Cruiser Balloon tire bicycle bike ladies tank 1940'
Up for auction is a very old Schwinn Ladies Bicycle. Restore it or ride it as it is. I am not sure of the year. I have been told that ladies Schwinn bikes with this type of horn tank were only made for two years. 1940-1941. It has the pre-war type rear wheel ears with the pre-war type adjuster axle screws. The serial# is under the crank and is#G77848. The frame is black and cream and has some scratches, rubs, and chips, but looks very good for it's age. The fenders are pretty straight, paint is crackly and were painted odd colors many years ago.The horn tank has blue and cream paint with a decal on one side and has red and black paint with pinstripes on the other. The horn is missing. The handlebars, goose neck, bird on the fender and light all are fairly rusty, nice patina) The Schwinn script hand grips are in great shape. The seat is ... morein incredible condition and looks like new" but is not. It has chrome drop center wheels with the New Departure brake, and are in pretty good condition. But it does show some wear spots and scratches. Please note that the basket is no longer on the bike. Underneath the seat cover is a Troxel seat, which is in nice shape. We agreed to this consignment. We at Central are not bike experts. The very detailed photos. And our inspections, show a Vintage Black Phantom with no structural defects, the welds are solid and the original paint is in evidence: no repainting. Tagging is on it, graphics are worn. The tires appear to be original; Uniroyal Schwinn Typhoon is the raised lettering. We think the seat is original, not positive. This isn’t a project for the faint of heart. The tank and fenders are missing but we see that other eBay-ers have them available. This 26” Diamond in the Rough(very rough) needs re-homing. This ia an old(1950's) Schwinn bike made by BF Goodrich. As you see in the photos it is stamped on the wheels Schwinn Tubular. There is"Schwinn Quality Chicago" on the frame, and"BF Goodrich for Schwinn" also on the frame. The pedals also have Schwinn on them but they are rusted. This bike has original paint& scratches: The hand grips& ballon tires were replaced in the 1960's when it was last used. The tires are holding air but will need to be replaced to ride. Original Victorian Balloon Back Gentleman's Chair in excellent condition. Balloon back and arms are a specific fit for men( see measurements below) Specific measurements, just for men. You have to wonder how many cigars have been smoked in this chair. Although I must specifically say the chair has no smell of cigars in and of itself. Not much is known about the historical context for this chair. Which means I don't know much about its specific history. But by the integrity of the design, I feel safe to say it was manufactured before 1860. If you see Lincoln, THE Movie, w/ Daniel Day Lewis, there is one featured in the sets. This chair could have been in a Southern mansion anywhere from Savannah, Georgia during the time of the plantation way of life or in some railroad baron in California in the days of the"Great Gold Rush. Specific ... moredetails include:Original Victoiran Balloon Back Chair w/ button tufted upholstery. All original upholstery, stuffing, and wood. No tears, cuts or rips although uphostery fabric is showing signs of wear on part of the back. This is a Victorian Gentleman's chair. THe bottom of the chair itself has been replaced with a synthetic material which is the only unoriginal aspect of it. Otherwise it is quite authentic. Wood is Rosewood Tag on the bottom can be read to say only"Furniture Company. Montgomery, Alabama The fabric is a burgundy red an is in good condition. The wood is rosewood or mahogany with a rosewood stain. Hand carved and all original condition. The chair measures 33" wide. 44" high and 27" across. The measurement from the seat to the floor is 15" which is taller than a normal parlour chair of this period. The purpose of this is the chair's specific marketing as a gentleman's chair. I have a very good condition 2007 Schwinn"New Belgium Fat Tire Amber Ale" complete bicycle for sale. It's a deep red that reminds me of the old patina'd Indian Motorcycles of the thirties. It's pretty much a repro Phantom in a subdued red(nice if you don't like the classic Phantom multi-colored paint schemes) Matching springer fork. Repro brick pattern tires. Coaster Brake. The paint is in very presentable condition. Shiny, though there is a shallow scratch from locking another bike together with it. Its not through the paint and may buff out.The rear fender also has a quarter inch ding in it. Always kept indoors and hardly ridden. No rust, etc. It has a tank horn but I haven't tried to put batteries in it. But I have no reason to believe it doesn't work, no battery corrosion or anything around it. It has a sticker on it that reads something like Schwinn Special Projects(can't remember exactly what it says right now) Though I seriously doubt it was made in America, it has parts on it that mimic the heavy duty parts of that old era, you can tell it wasn't a cheapo build by the details. It is hollow inside and the mounting holes are 3 1/4 inches apart. It is a reflector or maybe a tailight cover only. As there is no wiring& no light inside. Slightly dirty. No damage. I was basically interested in an inexpensivesupply of tubes, and had no need for the blueprints. In the process of discarding them, imagine mysurprise and delight when I found inside one of the tubes not blueprints at all,but instead this awesome piece of APPLE COMPUTER history in the form of thisbeautiful poster produced in 1981. Item: Vintage Poster Genre: DataProcessing/ Personal Computers Title: AppleComputer Balloon above Donner Lake. California– 1981” Photographer: Jim Guss. Year: 1981 Material: Glossy poster paper from 1981. Size: 35” x 23” Condition: C9- NEAR MINT- Investment Quality. Superb. Unused. But with one very minor verticaltear at the bottom center(approximately one inch– see photo) I did not attempt to repair it, but acompetent paper restorer could easily do so in a way that it would not benoticeable. There are also two very small blemishes- tiny white spots or imperfections against the glossy black background; one is along the right border near the bottom, and the other is along the bottom to the right of the tear. Both are about the size of a small ant, are barely noticeable, and I believe they could easily be touched-up, but I will leave that to you. The poster has no pinholes, nocompression marks, no edge fraying, no creases or folds, no other flaws that I am aware of. Colors are vivid and brilliant.
