Vintage Vega Rare Hand Hammered Bell Pea Shooter Trumpet
Vintage Vega pea shooter trumpet here with hand hammered bell. I have never seen one like this. It plays well for its age. Looks are as seen in photos and I believe it has been refinished a time or two. There are some small dents and braces appear to have been professionally resoldered at bell. Main issue is that an area about the size of my thumb print on the upper bell is very thin(as in paper) and has a small split about 3/8" long( See photo) this is at the"A" of Vega. Looks like a wrinkle was taken out there. Valves are bottom sprung and operate nicely. They bear some varnish and wear but trumpet plays with good tone. All slides and caps remove except for 3rd slide which I am not sure is removable in design. This comes with an unmarked mouthpiece which I was told by former owner was original. it fits and my other mouthpiece ... moreare a bit small for the receiver. Please view the many photos for cosmetics. Overall lacquer looks pretty good and overall straight playable horn. No numbers on horn except for 1 2 3 on valve cases and a small 83 in a circle on receiver. No case but I will ship in a hardcase of no value except for protection in shipment. Vintage 1952 Selmer Paris balanced Trumpet -- Harry James "pea-shooter"
This is a rare Selmer Paris Balanced trumpet from the early fifties(Serial 13623 which means it was made in late 1952) It's the famous"equilibrée" model- Harry James' horn(before he switched to King) Because of the elongated look with the sharp curve of the bell tube it was affectionately known as the"peashooter" This 24A model is the ML-large bore: the scale reached then from 17A(S-bore) to 25A(L-bore) This is exactly the model Harry James used. The balanced model was Selmer's most successful professional trumpet of the time- equilibrée means that the whole valve block was moved to the front so it feels more balanced- a layout favored by Louis Armstrong(19A) and Harry James. Balanced trumpets were denoted by a letter"A" following the leadpipe code. While standard trumpets were denoted by ... morea letter"B" The Olds Recording trumpet was a copy of this design. The valves have great action and compression. The bell has that famous french double bead rim for better response and projection. This horn plays like a dream with a beautiful sound and incredible response and slotting. Most notably it has the sizzle that HJ was known for. Overblow this sucker and it rattles like a snare drum. This horn is completely unrestored and the lacquer is beautifully dark but it has a serious dent on the bell tube right behind the valves. It doesn't affect the sound but it sucks that it happened. It also has a fair amount of sweat damage on the bottom of the valves and the third valve slide. This was my father-in-law's horn which he played through college and in the Air Force. I'm pretty sure he bought it at Chuck Levin's in the early 60's. It has no case. On Jan-18-13 at 06:51:36 PST. This trumpet is very unique. It's called the'pea-shooter' Slim design Serial number is 110142 and it comes with the original hardshell case. Mouthpiece and lyre. Case doesn't have mold but does have 1 broken latch. The oldest this horn could be would be 1936. Engraved on the bell are the words Velvetone Made in America. Vintage Totally Rebuilt Conn Cavalier Pea shooter style trumpet with mouthpiece
A Great American horn that is a old beauty with a polished silver and satin silver finish! WOW. This Cavalier plays with a 1920's Jazz sound! This is a nice old Trumpet and a quality instrument by one of the largest Trumpet makers in the world. Made by Conn’s Pan American division. One of the most respected names in brass instruments, I believe this is a model 94B Trumpet. The serial number is 25323, which dates the horn to 1924. The body has a nice original satin silver finish with the slides, bell interior, and also the caps in polished silver. This is one of the trumpets that was an offshoot of the Conn New Era model. There is a very close resemblance to the New Era line without the valve slide throws. This horn has a wonderful very bright tone and a very focused sound. This trumpet has the Conn#1 bore and I get a measurement of.434” ... moreat the second valve slide. It also has a nice tight taper on the bell that ends at a 4 1/4” rim. The engraving is bright and reads: CAVALIER, ELKHART IND, USA. I played this horn for a few years and decided it needed to be played on a regular basis. Melanie said I sound great on this horn, lol, as always) The horn has a smooth and very bright sound and the bell has great sound projection. The horn is a very small bore and can scream if you need it to. The horn plays in tune from the bottom to the top. I think it plays great for the 1920's jazz style! Many people believe these are the true pea shooters that defined the early jazz style and sound. I think this horn has a great feel for those tunes. The horn is in great mechanical condition- all the tuning slides work smoothly, including the first and third which are usually frozen and require some kind of repair. The third valve slide is the old non adjustable type but it is easy to lip the low D and C# into tune with it. Also notice the third slide is outside the tuning slide so the look is different than normal. The horn is also longer with a tight wrap that also gives it the focused sound. Unique 1930's-40's Circus Carnival Pea Shooter Game! Amazing Folk Art Piece!
This Lot is an awesome piece of carnival history and a part of that history of which very few pieces survive today. This iron homemade ship from probably somewhere in the 1930's was handmade from discarded metal and painted by a carnival worker who could not afford a mass produced game for his booth. Most hand crafted carnival games other than fortune wheels or very early roller coaster cars have not survived as these items were generally thrown away when no longer needed. This one saw long use and was also painted once after retirement. Possibly by the owner when he finally retired. The ship measures about 5 feet long. It is surprisingly light at around 50-60 pounds as it is hollow. The sides of the ship are old galvanized pails or washtubs as seen by the ribbing while the guns are nozzles from watering cans or gas cans. The main deck ... moreand stacks along with the lifeboats and rails we haven't been able to determine what exact items they came from. But assuredly something else that was available behind an old barn or in the town dump. The ship itself was repainted many times over the years and the last coat appears to be after this piece was retired from its purpose. The numbers 1 to 6 in blue are visible if the nozzles are removed and the"portholes" on the side have paper remants behind them, and were also an abvious way to win a prize also. There is a sliding metal pane in the rear which provides easy access to replace the paper behind the"portholes" if they were broken by a lucky shot. The stacks show the original flag colors germany while the flag had one stripe repainted obviously post world war 2 as seen in the photo. We determined this piece to have been used for a peashooter gallery target as if any bb guns or somesuch were ised the hull would show a tremendous amount of denting from them compared with dried peas shot thru straws which would be far easier to clean and less likely to damage the paint or structure. Case is almost as solid as a log with all new split rivets and washers on the hinges, latches, lock unit, skeleton key included but it doesn't seem to lock right now but it did recently. CA 1900 VERY RARE & UNUSUAL “MEXICAN REPEATER” CAST IRON TOY PISTOL, PEA SHOOTER
Original circa 1900 cast iron toy pistol marked“Mexican Repeater” in the casting on both sides. We do not know which toy company made this very stylish& unusual toy pistol. Both sides have a long sleek checkered grip. This very rare“Mexican Repeater” toy pistol which we are offering is not shown in the first 1973 book“Cast Iron Toy Pistols 1870-1940” by Charles Best. However. The pistol is mentioned in the back of the first book with no information except the mention as“known to exist” We have heard that the later edition of the book which was put out in 1990 lists& shows the pistol. But, we do not have a copy of the later edition to verify this point. Apparently, it is listed under number M11.1& shown on page 93. It is listed as a pea shooter with the maker unknown. The toy pistol is in beautiful smooth condition& has a lovely ... morerich patina from age& use. This extremely appealing toy pistol measures 6 1/4 inches long by 3 3/8 inches tall by 7/8 inch across the widest point. The weight is 6.4 ounces. There are no cracks. no chips. At some point in the past the toy pistol had two rivets taken out& had the iron trigger professionally replaced. An expert job that is not readily apparent. We looked at it closely to figure this out out as the replacement trigger blends in very well. But, the trigger(although nice) is not of the same casting quality as the rest of the toy. It appears that the two front rivets were taken out( possibly replaced) to replace the trigger. We have never owned or seen. In person, another example of this rare toy pistol for comparison of the front two rivets which are definitely old but questionable on this example. So, that is the reason for us not being certain as to whether the front two rivets are replaced or not. But, the back rivet on the checkered grip has never been removed& is guaranteed original. Has part of an old Davey Crockett sticker on the grip.all the blue is wood. The blue is original paint. Has staples marks here and there. You can see what is tin and the condition is amazing for such an old outdoor toy.Pea Shooter I am sure. Blue handle pulls back and locks and load barrel with a pea.pull trigger which is an odd shape and the spring inside barrel shoots out the pea.amazing! Vintage Holton Special Pea Shooter Trombone Chicago
This is a vintage Frank Holton pea shooter. Made in Chicago. Serial number is 16xx putting year of manufacture at 1905. Pretty good shape for its age. Satin silver finish is 97% intact. Gold wash on the inside of the bell. The engraving is pretty crisp so I'm thinking it's the original finish. Minor pings on the bell and a couple of minor dents on the tuning slide. The handslide, stamped with a number 2, moves but feels a little sluggish so you'll want to have it professionally cleaned. Comes with Pro-Tec case.

Vintage Legionnaire "pea shooter" trumpet and case
This is a Legionnaire trumpet made in Elkhart. Indiana, serial#54283. I don’t know the vintage on this horn but it’s got the narrow“pea shooter” style wrap that was prevalent in the 20’s and 30’s, so I would guess it’s from that era. The only information I found about Legionnaire is that it was probably made by Holton, however, this horn says“Made in Elkhart, Indiana” and Holton was in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, so I’m not sure. In any event, the horn is in nice shape for it’s age. The finish is a satin silver with shiny silver highlighting the nice encryption work on the bell. The horn plays OK but the valves are a little“sloppy” There are no dents and only a couple of extremely small dings, hardly noticeable. There are two mouthpieces, appear to be made by the same manufacturer by the design. One mouthpiece says“trumpet” otherwise there are no ... moremarkings. The bell diameter is 4.25” The top cover of the case is in poor condition as it has a large, squishy” oval area where it may have gotten wet at some point. The interior is in good shape, however, and both latches work fine, including the springs. For someone wanting a piece of the past(Roaring 20’s? to display or play, this would be a good choice. I have not attempted any cleaning or repairs of these item. You are buying it as I found it in the attic of a home that is been in the same family for over 100 years in Vermont. The GP ITALY pistol I believe is a lighter. But I can't be sure. The long pistol seems to be a pea shooter and does work The S&W pistol has rust and does cock back and shoot. It looks like it is a blank shooter. It will need work. The thin black pistol may be a cork gun. It has been oiled but does not quite work smoothly. This model has simultaneous release of hammer when trigger is squeezed(i.e. trigger is not supposed to remain cocked) Buffalo Bill name embossed in raised letters on both sides of the frame. All original screws and hardware without any repairs or cleaning. Two other versions. One painted and one with different casting, were also produced. White plastic grips feature large horse head on left and cowpoke with crossed pistols on right. Red jewels on both sides are complete. All-text printed box includes"Buffalo Bill" large red capitalized letters. Antique Tin And Wood Toy Cork Gun Pea Shooter
Up for auction is this very unique antique tin and wood spring-loaded cork or peashooter toy gun. This piece has several condition issues. It is missing the decorative part of the trigger and the trigger guard. It is missing the wooden handle for the pullback, it has several scuffs and some paint missing, there are a couple small gouges out of the wood and some splashes of white paint, the tin has some pitting and some small dents and scratches but has a nice patina to it. There are some markings inside the chamber however I cannot establish a makers Mark or company brand. Elkhart Cavalier pea shooter style trumpet long cornet
Elkhart Cavalier long cornet peashooter( pea shooter) style. Serial number 12176. All slides pull, valves work fine. Good lacquer. See pics. I bought this at a thrift store. I just needed to see what playing one of these was like. It blows small and tight. Tone is cool, kinda blatty, and very focused. Not my style at all, but fun none the less. The finger hook is gone, The brass nub from the 2nd valve slide is wrapped up and in the case. Case is original- I can tell by the way it fits so perfectly. It's a bit smelly, but not that bad. Will need a cleaning. Pretty neat old horn, beautiful engraving. Sorry- no mouthpiece.
