Clarke& Co began in 1865 and was the only company in the drug trade located on the West Coast at that time; their company has some very interesting history. Unfortunately cracks and chips have adorned this jug throughout it's years but it's still a very unique piece. The lettering is in the cobalt blue. I'm sure a restorer could do some work on it but it would only take away it's charm and possibly some of it's value. Very interesting original letter from the protectionist group The Home Market Club signed by Albert Clarke. Clarke was a member of the Thirteenth Vermont Volunteers in the Civil War where he distinguished himself in the Battle of Gettysburg when he captured a cannon and several prisoners. He went on to serve in both the Vermont legislature and Massachusetts legislature. He was a strong supporter of President Harrison. As this letter indicates. He went on to be involved in Protectionist propaganda and politics and was editor for The Home Market Club. Letter is toned.

The two bases have the fairy in them. The smaller one, 2 7/8" across the top 1 1/2" tall, is marked S. Clarke Fairy Pyramid, the larger base( 3 1/2" across the top, 2 1/2" tall) is marked with a Fairy above a crown, the 3" tall 3" wide center globe is unmarked, but seems to fit the larger piece well. Beautiful and Detailed Original Map from 1904 Clarke County Iowa(This is an authentic map from 1904-NOT a reproduction) This is a genuine 1904 map removed from The Iowa State Atlas. Published in Davenport, Iowa by the Iowa Publications Co. Maps were prepared and published under the supervision of M. Melchior) Huebinger, C. E. Map is printed on the scale of 1/2" = 1 Mile) The map is dated 1904 of the face(see third scan below) The overall sheet size is about 15.25" x 18.25" The size within the printed"Ears of Corn" border is about 13.75" x 17" Map is too large for my 11" x 17" tabloid scanner; so it was scanned in two passes and then assembled electronically. There are some scanner lines visible in the scan. And where the two sections are joined there is a slight variation in the overall tone. The ... moremap itself has NO BREAK, and is very consistent in regards to color. The third scan below is a somewhat enlarged close-up to show quality and detail. There are two other scans at the bottom of the listing: one shows the Legend as it appears on every map in this series; and the other is of the Atlas Title Page. This is a very detailed map. Showing cities, town and villages; roads, railroads(railroads are identified by name) Electric Railroads if any, Schools, Churches, Cemeteries, Stands of Timber, creeks, rivers, lakes, ponds, coal mines, quarries etc. Even the smallest communities in existence at the time are identified. Communities include: Osceola. Hopeville, Lacelle, Leslie, Weldon, Groveland, Smyrna, Woodburn, Murray, Jamison, Liberty and Jay. Condition: Very Good. Printed on medium weight paper which is blank on the reverse. The color was applied by the stone chromolithographic process. Which had been superseded in most publishing firms by 1904. Cricklite S. Clarke Fairy Lamp Christmas Tree Shade Model 317 Stamped Base
This auction is for a great Clarkes fairy lamp featuring a Christmas tree shade. The shade is model number 317. Registered March 28, 1890. The shade has the following information handpainted on the inside bottom: Reg. N. 146726 Made in Austria. This shade originally had jewels in all the holes, but these could be replaced with modern costume jewels. The base has the famous pirouetting fairy stamp surrounded by the words"Cricklite Clarkes Patent Trademark. There is some paint loss on the shade, particularly on the gold detailing around the base, and there is some roughness around the openings but the shade is otherwise in good condition with no chips or cracks. The base has some bubbles that may at first look like imperfections as well as some roughness at the edge of one of the mold lines. There is a shallow stem at the bottom suggesting ... morethat this might have sat in another holder, and in the original Clarke catalog the piece does sit in a metal display. There is roughness around this raised area but the base is also otherwise in good condition. The shade measures approximately 3.75" tall and 5.25" tall in the base.

This auction is for a lovely Clarke fairy lamp with a cased yellow satin shade that has a black stenciled floral design. The shade sits on a clear Clarke base. There is some minor paint loss to the stencil. Minor roughness around the bottom of the shade and more significant roughness around the top opening but the shade is otherwise in good condition. The base is a simple, clear design but it is stamped with the famous pirouetting fairy which is surrounded by the words, S Clarkes Fairy Trade Mark. There are two small chips around the central rim and some roughness on the bottom but the base is otherwise in good condition. The shade measures approximately 3.75" tall and the assembled lamp is approximately 5.25" tall.

One diamond quilted satin citron shade and one ribbed mustard-colored shade. There is roughness and small chips around the top and bottom openings of all three shades. The quilted citron shade has two notches in the base plus a larger chip on the base and discoloration at the top and bottom edges from heat exposure. The single base is stamped S. This machine was used one time at a retirement home. Then it has just sat. I charged up the batteries and they have held power great. I turned it on and tested the buttons and each one seems to perform it's function just fine.
