Minton H 4648 Cobalt& Gold Plates. There are 4 salad plates. 7 saucers, 2 bread and butter and 6 padded dividers/separators. All plate colors are from the center outward: white. Cream and cobalt. There are 4 bands of gold on each plate. There are 2 different marks: The mark of a globe with crown which appears for Minton c1902-1912"MINTONS TIFFANY& Co NEW YORK MADE IN ENGLAND" and a little later date of the mark of a globe with a different crown and laurel leaves c1912-1950"MINTONS EST. 1793 ENGLAND" This marking does not have Tiffany& Co on it) The marking with the laurel leaves is on 3 of the plates with England ... morebelow the globe which dates it as earlier of 1912. All plates appear to never have been used. Some do however have some very light, small scratches probably from being stored together. No chips, cracks or repairs. None of the padded dividers are marked. Many of the plates are also imprinted with"MINTONS" and other symbols such as a cross. I can not tell what the others are. There is little or no wear to the gold bands/edges on the plates. 3 of the salad plates are marked: H4648 K with the earlier mark with Mintons and Tiffany(no leaves) 1 salad plate is marked: H4648 O. All salad plates are approx. 7.75" in diameter. 1 salad plate has the mark with the leaves so does not have"Tiffany Co" The 2 bread& butter plates are marked with the mark with leaves(no Tiffany name) and H4648 and what looks like a" mark. Both of the bread and butter plates are approx. 6.25" in diameter. Non of these plates have the"MINTONS" imprint. They are luncheon sized square plates. With lobed corners and small scallops at the cardinal points. The decoration is a very vibrant bouquet of florals and fruit in center, framed by a geometric narrow gold accent. The outer border continues this bountiful and bright medley. And can be considered dinner plates or chargers. These plates are stunning works of art. The design has a Rococo look that includes filigree. Scrolls, flowers, trellises, foliage and raised dots. The raised gold is evident in the close-up photos. The background is soft white. This is truly one of the most luxurious type of dinnerware, especially with the detail of the decoration using real gold. Furthermore, the gold foot rim on these plates is found only on Royal Doulton's finest pieces. The plates are marked with the standard Doulton factory mark used from 1901-1922 including the“lion. Crown and roundel, and the words, Royal ... moreDoulton” and“England. The plates feature artist letters“HB9772” on the reverse, and I believe the“H74” mark denotes the production period of 1916. The name in the center is"Kemlings" We don't know anything about the restaurant. I am sure some among the Ebay members remember Kemlings, we would appreciate their information very much. These plates came from an old estate in North Central Kansas. Have been kept. Nicely packed for about 20 years. We purchased them from a relative, who knew nothing about them either. They are in beautiful condition. I can see some utensil marks. But the gold is all good. There are no chips or discolorations. We have 20 plates, selling in lots of 4. They are very heavy.
