Western Electric optical projection meter that uses a flashlight bulb(and a spare GE 222X also) to reflect light off a mirror inside the potentiometer( rotary control module. And project it on the translucent, graduated screen on the front panel. Pushbutton switch at the bottom would be for taking readings and battery condition. It has an analog meter, above the rotary control with a center zero marking and a"BAT. area to the right on the face. Has a foot long coiled cord with a three pin plug that is marked"EBY 16160" I would imagine that would connect into a dry cell battery. The cord has a tag with"H328-705 L5" I am not sure of it's functioning. But it is a marvel of American engineering. The rotary control and mirror assembly has a marking of 726667-2(g or 8 or s) and the date April 20, 1981. RFL Electronics 5800 Meter Calibration System For sale- an RFL Electronics 5800 Meter Calibration System. Also for some reason referred to as a Test Board. I have used UTEC and Radian Research in the title for search engine purposes. But please note that this unit, serial number 633 if that tells you anything, does NOT say UTEC or Radian Research on it anywhere, only RFL Electronics. I have no idea what the relationship(if any) between those companies might be. The 5800 is in very good physical condition. Not saying you won’t find some scuffs and scratches. But I don’t see anything obviously broken or missing as compared to a few of the other 5800’s I found online. That doesn’t mean that it is complete. You should inspect the pictures VERY carefully to see just what it is you are buying. Only thing I noticed that will need attention is the ... morefoam filters over the fans on top. Which are disintegrating and will need to be replaced. As you can see the Meter Calibration System is equipped with an RFL Electronics 30578-1 Edge Sensor. That whole assembly sticks out prominently and to my way of thinking is vulnerable to shipping damage. I was going to try to take the sensor unit off at least but that was proving to be more difficult than I imagined. So I put some pads against the body of the unit. Snugged the sensor and arm assembly up against it, and shrink wrapped it in place to keep it secure in transit home(last picture) That is how I would propose to ship it to you. But if that isn’t the best way to do it I am open to suggestion. The sensor and arm assembly could be removed if necessary but I was afraid that might damage it so I chose not to do that. If you look at the pictures there are two things you will notice. First. It was NIST calibrated in August of 2011, due again in 2012. Second. It appears to be on a pallet constructed just for it. My theory is that it came back from being calibrated and was never used again by the large state university that I bought it from. Why else would the shipping pallet still b
