This is a Harris TS 44 DLX model V08 butt set/test set. Used in the cabling and telecom industries. This is a discontinued tool, used and in good working condition, but has never been professionally tested. It operates on 9-volt batteries which are not included due to shipping restrictions from the Hawaiian islands to mainland USA. Cord measures 66 inches long. The red casing boot insulation has been worn off due to use and can be replaced. The clip at the top of the set is interchangeable with the bottom; it just needs a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the plastic housing and switch the clip to the bottom of the set if you need. Available with various line cord connectors to suit specific applications, detects dial tone and polarity; places and receives calls; indicates line voltage and low loop current; has a one-way speaker for hands-free listening and a two-way speakerphone for hands-free conversation during testing; tests POTS(plain old telephone service) quality on live DSL lines without disrupting data services; and stores up to ten 23-digit telephone numbers which can be speed-dialed via the keypad. It provides tone or pulse operation. The test set has two basic modes of operation: talk mode for off-hook operations including verifying dialing and receiving calls, and monitor mode for on-hook operations including checking for an idle line, listening for line noise, and measuring DC voltage ... moreon the line. I have tested it and it is the speaker itself that is bad. Everything else works as it should. All the keys, program numbers, data lockout. also the leads have been changed.
