The tanks didn't leak but were very rusty so I decided to dis-assemble it and try offering the shippable pump unit alone! Prior to dis-assembly the compressor ran great. It pumped from 0 to 125 lbs. in 60 seconds. I'm including the brand new air filter element, that I put on it prior to offering it for sale, as well. I'm also including the drive belt. The crankcase breather looks like it may need to be replaced(see photo arrow) I believe it should probably be lying flat against the crankcase. A new one can be found here on ebay or any of many online vendors for just a few dollars. Obviously, the oil will be drained prior to shipping. The pump came off of an Emglo. This is an original vintage brass swing check valve. It is marked General Fire Extinguisher Company on the cap. It is about 3 inches long overall and about 2 3/4 inches tall. It has 3/4 inch pipe threads and they are in perfect condition. It is in excellent used condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind and the swing works perfectly and seats well. It has a few light wrench marks from past service. I believe it is ready to be used on a vintage water pump or gas engine cooling setup. Small Antique CROWLEY Air Compressor Single Cylinder Pump - 1935
The cylinder. Head, pulleys and base casting are all aluminum and the compressor tank is steel. I looked up the patent number(No. 2023466) and it read that it was patent by ME Crowley 12-10-1935(pump is also dated 1935 and the gauge on the pump is marked Jas. P. Marsh) It needs a good cleaning(I’ll leave that up to the buyer) and the part that connect to the end of the connecting rod has been welded in the past, but otherwise the unit looks to be in good condition and still turns over good and feels like it has decent compression. Total it stands 9” tall, the pulley on the piston side is 4” round, the pulley on the compressor side is 3” round and the main shaft is ½” The compressor itself is 3-3/4” tall x 2-3/4” round. Quincy 230 air compressor pump
This is a quincy 230 compressor pump. Had a 5hp electric motor on it. This compressor was used in my paint shop for years, it was working fine but getting a little oil in the air, so I took it to a shop to have it rebuilt. They took it apart and said getting a new one for $1200 would be the best way to go. The new one is half as heavy as this one, doesn't put out as much air, and is twice as loud. I hate to throw this one away after seeing the quality of it compared to the new one. I have all the parts this auction is for the whole thing, I would sell individual parts if it doesn't sell. Up for your consideration. A truly fantastic example of the golden age of Industry! This item is an antique air compressor precision made. Ca. 1920, by the renowned Brunner Mfg. Co. of Utica, NY. Rarer than a hen's tooth. This early, early, early machine is all intact and weighs 100 pounds! Make sure you examine the photos carefully. And I'm sure you'll agree that this piece is of museum quality. The design, from the long slender push rods to the original black paint, tapered spindle wooden handle to the rear iron wheels and the forward bullet-shaped Westinghouse motor, is unique and reminds me of a locomotive/steam engine train! Condition is very good with all parts present and original. Gear driven. The gears turn freely. As well as the motor shaft and compressor piston.Gear teeth are not worn or chipped. The original"Perkins" ... moredial on/off switch has a cracked bakelite insulator but, does click on and off! Air hose is age cracked and plug is missing for electrical cord. This has not been started as wiring for the switch is frayed and needs to be replaced. Brunner decal on air tank is fair with wear, but BRUNNER is clearly visible.
