Up for sale is this The New Britain Machine Co.Blackhawk Gauge Set in Original Box. This set in box measures 2" tall and 7" wide and 5" deep. The New Britain Machine Co. was the main supplier for NAPA tools until it's closure in 1990. As well as Craftsman, Matco and Mac Tools. New Britain also owned Husky and Blackhawk Tools. The case has some significant signs of wear like some tearing in the plastic coating of the case-some exposing some of the metal connecting pieces beneath with some surface rusting on those surfaces. The corner of the box has been smashed but the box is still holding together(see pictures) The tools seem to be in good condition with some oxidation on the needle and a brass fitting. And the tools, though quickly cleaned, could use a deeper clean to get off remnants of the foam insert that had deteriorated ... morewith age and was recently removed. Offered here is a nice old. American Quality, Schaeffer& Budenberg Gauge. With brass rim and large brass fitting. Marked on the face: Pat. Feb. 19, 1924. It reads up to 15. I assume PSI, with a DANGER zone beyond that. I applied a small amount of air to it and it does work. I did not take it apart to inspect the interior. On the back is inscribed“N. Hall, Room 225, Centrifuge” The face measures 3 inches in diameter, has a glass lens and the whole gauge is pretty heavy. There are marks on the brass fitting where someone apparently used a pipe wrench on it. I do not know what its application is. Perhaps steam or an expert out there can let me know.
