Nice Quality Machinist's Dividing Head with Tailstock and Collets
Here we have a very nice high quality inclinable dividing head for use on a milling machine. Drill press, or other machine tool. This design is very similar to the Vertex and Travers Tool Company import dividing heads offered on Ebay which in turn are copies of older vintage American made tools. This tool is unsigned but appears to be American in origin, since it uses 3AT collets. The divider is in excellent condition and comes with 3 dividing plates and a tailstock. There is also a plunger which is operated by the knurled knob on the side to engage a simple index plate with larger holes that can be mounted on the face of the tool for quick indexing. You can see the three equally spaced screws to fasten the plate on the face. This plate is not included, but you could easily fabricate any count you desire using the dividing head to do so! ... moreThe tool has a 4 inch center height as you can see in the photos. The threaded nose spindle is 1&1/4" by 7 pitch. This is a hefty unit, with the divider alone weighing in at about 25 pounds. If you have a Logan lathe, this set also comes with a nice selection of fourteen 3AT collets in the following sizes: 3/32" 1/8" 9/64" 5/32" 3/16" 7/32" 1/4" 9/32" 5/16" 11/32" 3/8" 13/32" 7/16" and 1/2" All the collets are excellent except for the 3/32" collet which has worn threads for several turns, although it still functions well. The collets are a mix of genuine Logan, Hardinge, German made Porst, and one Sutton brand, as you can see in the photos. My starting price won't buy the collets today, and there is no reserve. Two are marked Bridgeport. The other is not marked with a maker. The dividing head is in good used condition. It was purchased from a manufacturing business that was liquidated due to the owners death. The owner of this facility was a severe clean freak and kept his tools and equipment in excellent condition. This head is no exception. Ready to be put to work! up for auction is a sherline indexing head with face plate. Bead and tail stock. It is a recent estate fine and it is as found. It has some surface rust on the bed due to poor storage( top& bottom) see pictures. It is minor surface rust and will clean off easily, but it will leave a stain on the metal, but no pitting. The tail stock operates. The indexing button on the head stock does what it should do. It is a good usable tool that just need some clean up. Hardinge Dividing Head - Excellent, No Reserve
I've used this exactly once. So it's time to recover some shelf space. This Hardinge Dividing Head is in great shape, turns smoothly and is rock solid. Sadly I have no other index plates and no drawtube- I only used it with a chuck. What you see is what you get. This dividing head is compact but heavy- I think I can ship it securely in a flat rate box. In which case it'll be $18 to ship. I do not know if this is a 5 or 6 inch chuck on this dividing head. I put a pic of a tape over it for you to see. This item weighs 65 lbs. Please view my other auctions as I have a few lathe items for sale.
