She was launched in January 1944, and commissioned on March 18 th. 1944, Ens. R. B. Flynn in command. During World War-2, LST-682 was assigned to the European theater and participated in the invasion of Normandy in June ... more1944. She was then assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and took part in the assault and occupation of Okinawa Gunto in May and June 1945. Following the war, the ship performed occupation duty in the Far East until late February of 1946. LST-682 returned to the United States and was decommissioned in July of 1946. On June 3 rd. 1948, and was sold for scrap in 1948. LST-682 earned two battle stars for World War 2 service. If you have any questions please ask before you bid. For auction is a nice memento from Navy Day 1935. Gun is mounted on heavy hard black base and not sure of what material it is made. Gun measures 6 1/2" long and base measures 6" by 3 3/4" Total weight: 1 lb 3 oz. Very heavy for small piece. There is a name scratched on bottom: W. Dawson. Some small signs of corrosion on gun but minor considering age and likelihood it was exposed to salt air. Its not mint but extremely nice for age. All questions welcomed! Estate find. Two vintage US navy jumpers. Was told they are WW1 era, but I am not too well versed with this type of item. Please check out my other auctions for a vintage US Navy hat and jacket. Both jumpers are white with flaps. They both have same name stenciled on inside hem. Both shows signs of use/wear, actually kind of dirty, and I have not altered them in any way. One has insignia patch, which I believe is a machinist mate. One measures 20" pit to pit, 24 inches back collar and 23.5 inches pit to cuff, while the other measures 21, 25.5 and 23.5.
