Here's a vintage leather welding hood that I found at a recent estate sale. I can find no brand name on it. Only a couple part numbers on the Bakelite goggle frame.1198& 1137. It's all in good structural condition and works well, but it's a bit dirty and dusty and could use a detailed cleaning. The leather is still soft and in great shape. There's some very minor rust on the metal parts of the goggle frame, but it isn't serious at all. The glass lens is a bit dirty, and shows some minor scratches, but not bad at all. This Jackson welding helmet is in really good overall vintage condition. I dont think it has been used much at all. The glass is very clean no pitting whatsoever. No cracks in helmet or glass. The only thing i found wrong was the crossmember on head band is gone. Still fits great and doesnt seem to affect stability of helmet while on head. Steampunk possibilities. Posted with

The helmet is in good condition for its age, but it does have some wear around the looking glass, where someone would have set it down after they were finished welding. What appear to be scratches all across the surface of the helmet are in fact the exposed fibers of the fiberglass. If you so desired, you would be able to use the helmet for welding, as the pockmarks on the glass do not obscure your sight. The helmet measures about twelve inches tall, nine inches wide, and six and a half inches deep. The window in front measures four and a half inches across and two and one-fourth inches tall. VINTAGE JACKSON PRODUCTS NYLON WELDING HELMET LS&P5653A
This is an auction for a vintage Jackson Products Nylon Welding Helmet; model number LS&P5653A. I believe it was made in Belmont. Michigan in the late 1980's. The year 1989 is printed on the inside of the visor/eye shield and Belmont, Michigan is printed on a sticker on the helmet's interior. The helmet is in good used condition and has a few vintage stickers affixed to it. It adjusts to heads with a 6 1/2" to 8" circumference. It has not been used in a while but I believe it still works properly; the visor/eye shield is not cracked. The only flaws I see are that there are some minor scuff marks on the helmet and there are two tares on the plastic adjustable head strap. Adjustable band. ME MYSELF, well, I have never had the privledge of welding, so I have included 12 pictures for your review. PLEASE let the pictures tell you what is being offered here. CONDITION- VERY GOOD vintage condition. Used of course but in very usable condition as far as I can tell. I do notice that the hinges for flipping is up have apparently been worked on, one side to me looks like it has been replaced by a screw and washer and the other side looks like the original screw, HOWEVER it works excellent. The fiberglass in my opinion ... moreis actually very clean for a vintage item of this nature, does show some use but I think fair to say much less than normal, no breaks in the fiberglass that I see. There is some MINOR chipping of the fiberglass on the inside edge and I have shown in the pictures, pretty minor. AGAIN please review the pictures carefully, selling as pictures and as is. BOTTOM LINE- a real nice vintage helmet! SHIPPING IS USPS PRIORITY service with tracking and insurance.
