Really cool Welding Hood/Mask/Helmet. It is a fiber face shield with a metal lense housing. It has working adjustable head gear. There is some paint spatter and some cracks. See photos for details. One on the chin area was repaired the crack on the forehead is not as bad. Has a Gengard shade 10 lense with no spatter marks. As always guaranteed old and original! ANTIQUE American Optical Industrial Machine Age Welding Mask steampunk (DT)
Up for auction: Very Rare antique Welding Mask Steam punk. This Mask has Rivets all along the top and bottom. The steel encased glass eye front is also riveted. I could not find one exactly like this that has sold on here in recent months. Similar ones were from the 1930's and 1940's. There are no markings or branding anywhere on the helmet so I could not date the mask. The mask has scratches and dents from normal use and storage. Also. As you can see in the pictures, the stainless steel around the eye front has heavy scratches. Overall this is a great antique piece with a lot of character. The mask is still functional. A fantastic piece and really tells a story. I opted to NOT clean this item up too much as I think all the wear and metallic residue add to the character. Would make a great prop or Halloween piece. Flip up works great and the inside straps are all solid. I'd say it's condition is very good. Personally I love this helmet. The flip face is sweet. But what I like best about it is. The patina of aged fiberglass. I found this welder's helmet while cleaning out an old homestead. It still looks in good usable condition. Looks like it is made of fiberglass and very sturdy by Jackson- USA. There are a series of small holes around the perimeter used to attach(sewn) a cloth hood. I removed the hood as it's condition was debatable. Not sure if this model came with the hood or if the owner added it. At any rate you could certainly add one of your own. Helmet does exhibit some scuffs. Etc. due to age and use but is very clean. The head adjustment works fine and there are 2 clear and one smoky lens which seem to be relatively scratch free. Please view pictures as part of description and ask questions.
