The eyepieces screw off so you can remove the lenses. The lenses included are dark hardened glass welding lenses. Really dark. But you can still see with them in light areas. These original lenses would be great templates for other custom lenses. You could cut perfect replacements, red or green or whatever. The original leather padded nose shroud piece is fully intact. The breach piece that connects the goggles is a cool braided type metal bar. The Bakelite is a tortoise swirl type cast. Really different. Offered here is a really cool pair of old Welder's Goggles with very dark green thick removeable lens. The lens frame is made out of a very hard plastic in Brown Tortoise Shell color- they did not test positive for Bakelite. Across the bridge of the nose. There is a beaded chain encased in a tubular plastic that can be adjusted. Both lens are scratched and scuffed but in bright sunlight your vision is super clear- like hunting glasses. The lens are removeable by twisting the screw-on outer cap- so the lens could easily be replaced with clear or tinted lens. The head straps have old fashion metal adjustment slides but the straps themselves are in rough shape and will need to be replaced with some sort of ribbon or other material to make them functional. VINTAGE BAKELITE CUP EYE, GLASS LENS WELDING GOGGLES~ USE FOR SPEEDSTER/AVIATOR?
Here's an old pair of vintage bakelite welding goggles that are a little rough but may have some possibilities for other uses. Or at least as a vintage display item. Beings how they're used welding goggles they do have a few of the blems that go with that use, including splatter on the tinted glass lenses and torn head straps. Photos 3& 4 show a nice'lightning strike' design on the outer edges, although they also show a difference in the surface color from side to side that may be permanent- I didn't try any type of cleaner on the goggles. Photo 9 shows that one side of the frames has a clear& tinted lens together with a gasket, while the other side is 1 thick tinted lens. If a nice pair of the right thickness clear lenses could be obtained, these might make nice vintage aviator, motorcycle, or Model T speedster ... moregoggles. These are a nice design with a contoured fit and air vents by the eyes(photo 6) They also have an eye width adjustment with a simple'ball chain' snap in set-up(photo 7) The threaded lens holders are in good shape, although 1 has a couple of welding berry burns on it. Photo 10 shows what they look like without the tinted lenses. The goggles are being sold as is, with several possibilities for their use.

These are large steampunk goggles measuring 2 inches in diameter at the lens. They have clear glass lenses and you will also recieve a pair of dark lenses for the goggles. You simply unscrew the black lens cap to change lenses. They are in nice condition and not broken. They show some wear to the plastic frames and metal vents as can be expected of vintage goggles. You are bidding on a vintage pair of welding goggles with green lenses. All original with both lenses labeled AOM for American Optical I believe. They need a good cleaning but I didn't want to hurt the leather on the glasses. Leather has some cracks but no tears. Still pretty plyable. Lenses have no chips and no cracks. No breaks that I can find in the frames. Comes with metal protective goggles case. It has wear and rusting to the case but overall is in good condition. Very nice set and can be worn. The lenses unscrew, and are heavy dark-green glass. The strap is old and rather worn, but still works. The lenses are intact and unscratched except for some light wear. These are heavy-duty!
