We are not experts with these units so what you see is what we know about it. We are selling this for parts/repair because it has the word"BAD" written on the bottom and we are unable to fully test it. It powers on but this is the limit of our testing. It all looks to be in very good condition and its not tested, mainly because I have no idea how to test it. Up for auction is a Motorola Portable VHF Suitcase Repeater. This unit is in great cosmetic condition. The only observable defect I have been able to identify is that the clip on the back of the microphone is cracked. I have not had the opportunity to fully test the function of the radio. I do however know that it powers on and the speaker works. The radio is designed to include an internal rechargeable battery. But due to its age, I am nearly certain the rechargeable battery is no longer functional. The radio appears to be currently configured for the 169 through 172 MHz range. It will probably take some work to get this operational on amateur radio frequencies. The radio weighs approximately 35 pounds. You are bidding on a used very clean Tait VHF programable Receiver Module model T835-20. This module was removed from a public safety system that was changed out do to FCC reband plan. It was fully fuctioning when removed from service. ser# 851979. Frequency of this unit is 155.490 MHZ. This Tait series is the correct I.F. Filter bandwidth for Ham Radio Repeater Use. It is also the Frequency cut just above the 2 Meter Ham Band so that it can be moved down into the repeater portion without modification. Keep in mind you will need to be able to reprogram a 27C64 E-prom with your new frequency. I suggest that you keep the curent e-prom on the present frequency so that you can verify that the radio is operating normally and obtain a prom from e-bay usually for a couple of bucks or a juke box or ammusement device company as these proms are extremely ... morecommon in their everyday devices and they may even be able to program your new prom with simple windows laptop software that is available from Tait users groups. This is a socketed prom so there is no soldering or de-soldering involved. This Motorola Desktrac(Model L43sum7000bt) is ready to be a reliable HAM/Amateur radio repeater system. Clean and functioning well! The transmitter is factory set to approx 30 watts(although the radio is capable of 50 watts) with a factory cooling fan for cool operation. This unit also can be used in base station mode and contains its own 120voltAC power supply and built in mic w/ PTT on the front panel. NO DUPLEXER SUPPLIED. Pictured isn't the actual unit however it looks nearly identical to the photos provided. I have read the repeater and it appears the frequency is 158.745 but when I programmed a radio to receive and transmit on that frequency nothing happened.both radios are included in the repeater and I will even supply a power cord and the UHF antenna connectors for a duplexer which was removed! Item will be sold as is with no returns! Please understand I am trying to be very honest when describing this item and I believe it may be missing a few parts like the volume knob and the plastic piece which would cover the display.Again I am selling this as not working or parts only.unit does power up and the buttons directly underneath the display all work and are used to read the radio!
