Cobra HH38WXST Handheld CB Radio with NOAA Weather Channels
Up for sale today is a nice Cobra HH38WXST Handheld CB Radio with NOAA Weather Channels. I used this little cb during my travels on my motorcycle. It worked very well in helping me stay alert of what was a head on the road. The weather channel is a nice feature since you always have the possibility of riding someplace without cell coverage. I don't have the original antenna any more. But it looks like they can be easily replaced by contacting Cobra.The battery compartment is a little corroded but works find with a 12v source. I put some batteries in it, but found that the contacts must be preventing it from working with batteries. I'm sure you could get it to work, but I don't feel confident opening it up. Boots right up with 12volts! Both were given to me with exploded batteries( AA's size alkaline) I did my best to clean the battery chambers out with white vinegar. 90% of the leak is cleaned, the terminal contacts are all still intact and could use some finite cleaning, both units power on, one unit seems to work fine( the display for the channel is a little touchy) the other seems to be stuck on channel 9 and seems to have some issues im assuming related to the battery issue, SOLD AS IS NO RETURNS, comes with 2 units, 2 antenna, 4 dummy batteries spacers, instructions, and original styro containers

Radio Shack's Realistic Pro-43 was one of the best scanners ever made from a"radio performance" point of view. it was also fairly easy to modify and was featured in Bill Cheek's famous"Scanner Modification" books(alongside its base station siblings. The Pro-2004 through-2006) Handles 200 channels(plus 10"monitor" channels) in 10 banks of 20 each. Very easy to program and to scan various banks of channels. Search for active frequencies, etc. Scanner can periodically check a channel designated"priority" so as to not miss special calls. It covers from 30 MHz to 999 MHz with some gaps(mostly for the TV and cellular bands) Demodulates AM. FM, and wideband FM(for broadcast FM) Although"trunked" and digital systems have made newer scanners a necessity for public safety monitoring(check your ... morecounty at radioreference.com) These scanners are still very useful for monitoring aircraft, FRS/GMRS, wireless mics, ham radio, etc. along with thousands of public safety systems that are still on plain old analog. Also useful for bug detection and monitoring. The original manual is included. Digital and"trunking" systems(what it won't do) This scanner will not demodulate audio from any sort of digital system. Nor will it follow"talk groups" in a"trunking" system. If you are interested primarily in public safety communications, many of those systems have moved to"trunking" in the past few years.
