The warming dish has the old double walled construction with an opening on one end so that it can be filled with hot or cold water. The dish has a handsome smooth finish design with a threaded rim. The lid has been tinned on the interior. The handle is topped with a floral finial. The handle itself has very nice crosshatching and graining. The dish was made between 1770 and 1810. The warming dish is in good condition overall. There is some wear to some of the plating as you can see in the photographs. In addition. There has been a solder repair along the underside of the rim on the dish. However, this is truly inconsequential because it is on the very top edge of the underside so the dish should still work fine. There are some small dings and surface scratches here and there, but this is minor. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, no breaks, and no other repairs. Up for auction is a wonderful arts and crafts hammered copper chaffing dish. Although unsigned. It is attributed to either Benedict studios or OMS. Look at the excellent original patina to the copper. Looks virtually untouched. There are 2 screws missing out of the handle where it attaches to the copper, but the 2 that are present seem to hold just fine. The wood plaque base has a minor seam separation at one end, not distracting in my opinion. Original finish to the quartersawn oak base.Comes with all pieces pictured, base with main frame attached, lid, and burner dish. See pics. Here we have today is a really nice silverplate chaffing dish has no makers marks that I could find. So I am not sure of the age or maker on this piece. This lovely piece comes with the glass dish, holder, and candle burner. Piece looks like is was well kept and had light used. there is no silver loss. The glass insert is fire king, it is 11 1/4" from handle to handle and 3" deep. There are no chips or cracks. With lid on, piece is 12 1/2" tall. I am not quite sure how old this little cool burner is. I have never seen another one like it. The clever threaded mechanism allows for different intensity of the flame. It appears to have never been used before. It is quite clean and the wick looks brand new. There are no markings on on it but I am quite sure it is silver-plated. A beautiful Presentation Chaffing Dish Set for former U.S. Coast Guard Admiral Willard J. Smith(1910-2000) U.S. Coast Guard. Admiral Willard J. Smith, served as Commandant from July 1966 until his retirement in June 1970. During his tenure, he oversaw the Coast Guard's transition from the Treasury Department to the Department of Transportation in April 1967. It comes from the Smith Estate and it was presented to him from the Corps of Cadets on his future as Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard from his then position as Superintendent of the Coast Guard Academy in New London. 1908 Copper Chaffing Dish- Landers. Frary, Clark ALL ORIGINAL- Charming 105 year old antique from the early art deco era! This piece is sure to add elegance and art deco era-style to any setting; either as a display piece or keeping your gourmet delicacy ready and warm for your guests at the table or buffet at your next party. Nov. 17 1908, Other patents pending Landers, Frary, Clark, New Britton, Conn. USA Canada Dec. 15.08" Measurements(Approx. 12" high(with cover in place) X 18" wide(including handle) Dish portion is about 10" wide. The assembled weight is approx. 4.33 lbs. no packaging) There are 6 pieces to this set: 1. Fuel Canister- has all pieces as shown(lids/pin) 2. Fuel ... moreCanister removable element snuffer/cover 3. 4 legged base/stand 4. Bottom pan for water with 2 handles(wood or bakelite perhaps) 5. Pan for the food item with one longer handle(wood or? 6. Lid/cover with spindle/handle top Details: The fuel canister has a protective copper cylinder/cover which removes by sliding it up off the element revealing the element for the flame source. I do not know what the fuel type used would be. The element has a copper(it might actually be brass- it is bright shiny gold color) tube that appears to be a fine-control for the height of the flame as it slides up and down and will stay in the position you wish. The crank knob sticking out on a stem turns to open/close the fuel to the element. The opening for adding fuel is the screw top that sits directly on the canister off to the side. Another mechanism is a sliding pin that does not come all the way out apparently by design but I am unsure exactly what this does. All the items about the canister appear to move/open/close as designed. I have not personally tested it. Overall. This beautiful piece is in good used condition as would be expected from an item 105 years old and kept in storage.

Magnificent silver plate chaffing dish
I have followed this chafing dish for years from this estate. It is huge. And beautifully made and extremely heavy. The work is extreme and the wooden handle is about 12 inches long. It has a lifting handle on the opposite end. Outside of a fabulous epergne, one would be lost to try to find something so immensely grand. There is a bit of natural bleeding around the fire starter, and three of the tiny wooden feet are missing. I took the photo as is so that you could see if you would want to replace them, or just remove them all together. The patina is exquisite, and the overall condition is excellent.
