It was never run but was displayed on a layout that was under construction. It received some damage during a burglary attempt. I have attempted to catalog the damage in the photos. If you look at the last five photos you will see the damage. First is a scratch in the paint near the lettering"GWA10" Second is a missing hand grab(sheared off) Third photo is of one of the corner posts that was broken off.the other three are still there. Fourth photo is a locating pin missing from the containers.the other three are still there and the containers still stack. Fifth is a photo of the same corner"post" that is shown is previously shown. The larger one is for 2 lb. and shows Elsie the Borden cow in front of a large daisy and reads'Borden's Creamed Cottage Cheese' on opposite sides. The lid is also waxed and marked. Among other info: GRADE A Creamed COUNTRY STYLE SMALL CURD. It has a list of cities served around the perimeter- all in OHIO! It is 5" diameter at the top x approx. 5-1/4" high. The bottom reads that it is a Lily Nestrite container. New York, N.Y. The smaller container is very similar to the large one with the main difference being the lid. Here are a pair of tin containers that once held moth balls. Both are made by Kopper's. One is for Para Nuggets. The other Mothalene. As you can see compared to the soda can one tin is quite large. That one is in good overall condition with a few scuffs here and there and a small dent near the top edge. It could probably be pushed out if you care to pop off the cover. The smaller tin shows more signs of wear with some scratches and light rust. I'm guessing these to be from the 50's since one has the pink and black color scheme which was popular back then. Two nice reproduction glass candy containers. Although reproductions these are still about 25 years old and as you can see. In excellen t condition with no knicks, cracks, chips etc. Very nice for display in a nicely lit window during the day when the sun is out. Each locomotive is approximately 4.5” in length. Selling sheet SUPERFLY Gum-Filled Containers
From its earliest days. The Topps Company has been making kids of all ages happy with a constant stream of innovative and fun candy and gum novelties. Their Bazooka bubble gum branded items with the famous Bazooka Joe comics have been entertaining young and old for over 50 years. The retailer/wholesaler“landscape” was very different during the middle of the 20th century. Most kids got their candy from the corner grocery store(and there seemed to be one on every corner) The thousands of independent wholesalers that thrived during those days supplied these stores. It was the ideal supply chain for Topps’ brand of distribution and marketing. And market they did. From the 50’s through the 80’s there was a constant stream of candy and gum novelties coming out of the hallowed halls of the Topps Company. With each item, selling materials were issued ... moreto assist the wholesaler and the Topps sales and marketing groups in selling the product. Most prominent among these materials was the ad sheet or selling sheet. It usually showed the product itself in some type of drawing or photo and the Topps art department really made some terrific sheets. This is the selling sheet for SUPERFLY Bubble Gum CONTAINERS This was a plastic"fly" that was filled with candy-coated bubble gum bits. Each fly had a suction cup to attach to windows. Etc. The wings were iridescent and there were assorted colors. The item"will fly from your shelves" so says the sheet. Oh, those Topps guys! The sheet measures 8.5 x 11 inches. Is printed on glossy paper and is in excellent condition. This is an original sheet, not a copy. The sheet will be shipped flat in a sturdy cardboard mailer via first class mail.
