Four vintage telephone glass candy containers. The first one has the rotary dial around base with wood ear piece tied on by a string. Marked VICTORY GLASS CO. JEANNETTE. PA USA 1 OZ AVOR around base. Also has the letter TT at the very top. Still has candy and paper label cover on base. Good condition. Height 4.75" tall. The second phone has a glass ear piece which looks like it had some broken off the top. Tin cover base has a small chip where it has rusted abit. No marks that I can see. Height 4.5" tall. The third is just marked USA and measures 4.25" tall. Has a wood earpiece. The silk ribbon is worn and the earpiece is hanging on by a thread. Still has the metal wire where it sits in place. These Ammo Cans are very heavy: the gray ... moreone weighs about 21 pounds and the green one weighs about 20 pounds. They measure approximately 18 1/4" long x 8" wide x 14 1/2" tall. Measured at the outside of the container. I don't see any writing or markings on them to indicate that they are military but they do look like ammunition containers that would be used by the military. The gray colored one has a lot of rust on the outside with heavy rust on the outside of the bottom. The inside looks fairly clean. There was a small section where the rubber gasket had come loose and I was able to push it back in. The green colored one has some blue paint on the outside and also some rust on the outside with heavy rust on the outside bottom. The inside looks fairly clean. The latches and handles are solid and secure. The latches close very tightly. The rubber gaskets look like they are in good shape. I don't see any major dents in these containers. The chemist shop(drug store) and a green grocers's shop(fruits and vegetables) They are in decent used condition.some light rust spots and wear on metal on the inside of the top lids.and some paint wear along the opening and closing part of the lids. The tins originally held milk chocolate covered caramels. The green grocers and chemist shop have hinged lids.they both have wear on the bare metal edges and the green grocers has some marks on the inside(as shown in photos) and a small dent in the letter H on the front and between the I and the T on the back lid. Waterproof and airtight with caps on both ends with fine threads and made of a tough stiff slippery translucent plastic that seems to be impervious to most solvents. Acetone for example. With those caps on both ends there's no anything having to be fished out. One end has a removable disk seal with the cap. The other does not and probably has something to do with the use of these containers. The length is 5" O.D. is 7/8ths for the body, 1" for the caps and the I.D. is just over 3/4" they are not going to be broken in half easily. One of my friends stuffs them full of cotton balls ... moresoaked in lighter fluid to use as fire starters, or a couple of shots of hooch. That and you can get a fair number of.22's in one also, but a.50 cal machine gun bullet is too big to fit. I know. I tried it.
