Antique Warranted London Best Samovar Coffee Tea Urn Dispenser Silver Plate On Copper Up for sale is an Antique Warranted London Best Samovar Coffee Tea Urn Dispenser Silver Plate on Copper. The dispenser comes in poor condition in need of silver re-plating just as you see it in the many large photos given. It is marked"Warranted Best London Manufacture" Obviously with brass showing through the silver plate this item is Silver On Brass. It is believed to date back to the turn of the 20th century but is hard to tell with just the"Warranted Best London Manufacture" mark. This was black with tarnish when it came to me. I polished most of that out only to find the silver plate gone in some places and it is especially bad on the lid as shown in the photos. I know that polishing removes part of the silver plate but in my defense.most ... moreof the wear spots were already there and could be seen through the tarnish. The samovar stands 16.5 inches tall is is 12.5 inches wide from handle to handle. It has been water tested and it holds and dispenses liquid as it should with no leaking. The auction house prices on these vary to greatly to be accurate as to it's value especially when you consider the condition of the piece and it needing a re-plating. I will check with a local antique metal re-plating company I know of to see how much it cost to re-plate this but if I do the work this piece will go for a lot more. The feet screw off and to insure they do not snap off in shipping they will be removed. Please expect this upon arrival. I also left the feet tarnished to show how bad the tarnish was on the piece. I have a large silver plate heavy gauge footed tray that this would look excellent on. It does not come with this sale but can be found in my other items for sale. 19TH C. SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATE UNCOMMON ICE COOLED DRINK URN DISPENSER
This is a beautiful and uncommon silver plate cooling dispenser. Being in a Federal Style, suggesting the late 18th or early 19th Century. The reserved outline and slender form are Neoclassical, with limited decorations.the now worn tiny circular impressions, and that frontal shield form which does not have an engraved monogram. It also resembles Sheffield Plate, a method which forged sheets of copper and sterling together, and which in the course of repeated polishings allowed the underlying copper to show thru the worn sterling at edges and high spots.which some people find very attractive. This urn has that quality, there being copper showing at some edges, but I am of the opinion that it is not the early Sheffield, but a mid 19th C. form.not 20th C. You will note the original sheet metal tube is present which would have held ice, thereby ... morecooling the contents. Besides the central tube for ice that insert has two finger holes allowing it to be lifted from the urn. There are no company marks, and as you see by the photos it has an old form of construction which employes the thin sheet metal tof partially underly the attractive silver and copper. That construction suggests an early date on this cooler urn dispenser. Someone recently gave it a smooth well done polish which reveals the lovely copper color appearing at some edges. Its main problem is with the spiggot. Please see the photos which show that the curved arm which would allow the spout to be opened for dispensing has been dislodged. Though the arm remains with the piece. Also it appears the mechanism will not turn, perhaps that being the reason for the arm breaking off. What should be a rotating element seems very tightly fixed and I suspect a professional working with silver and silver plate must be engaged to repair this serious flaw. However. The cost of fixing it might be worth the investment as this appears to be a relatively uncommon object. Or, it can be used as a decorative element in a period room just as it stand. The box is very ornate metal designs and has a dark blue jewel on the front with a light blue jewel in the top lid center surrounded by four orange jewels on each corner. Leaver on the side is used to rotate the cylinder inside the box that holds up to 9 cigarettes. Cigarette dispenser works as designed.Base is about 5 1/8 inches all sides and is about 4 3/4 inches high. Had green felt on base but has partially worn off. primitive americana silver plate dispenser decagon – syrup or cream - unique
Please note: I ship to USA only I found this very unique item at an estate sale. Searching high and low has yielded nothing similar. It is a dispenser of some sort– cream or syrup maybe. One person told me that it is shaped like a maple sap evaporator she saw when she was young. This could therefore be a maple syrup dispenser intended to look like the evaporators of old. The only identification on the item is a very worn laurel wreath around a 5-point star with an“s” barely observable in it. The words“quadruple silver” appear as well. It is assumed to be quadruple silver plate. Indications are that this item may date back to 1900 or so– though we can find no direct evidence of that. Vintage Mid-Century NY Century Chromium Plate Coffee Urn Dispenser W/Tray & Cups
Great vintage CENTURY NY Chromium Plated Hot Beverage"Barrel Shaped" Urn Set Dispenser and Platter marked as CENTURY NY Six cups appear to be chrome plated brass and have an embossed rim but no markings. Not sure if original to set. Good pre-owned condition with normal wear and some slight scratches. The spout works well. There is no place for a cord.this did not require one. The tripod feet are painted wood(very unusual) and do have wear. The inside of the urn does have some sediment and discoloring. Urn measures 11-1/2" in height with top on and approx. 6-1/4" wide at the middle of the barrel. Tray measures 17" x 9" Cups are 2-3/4" high by 1-3/4" diameter at rim. Thanks for looking.
