Vintage Lead CONTAINER SHIP-PANAMA-Paperweight?
This is for a vintage container ship that I BELIEVE to be made of lead. Though I am not certain of that. A magnet does not stick to it, and it seems to be too heavy to be made of aluminum. Anyway, it measures about 7 1/4" long and weighs a bit over 5 ounces. It has `PANAMA` stamped in it towards the rear of the ship, and there is a logo on it as well. It is hollow inside. I see no broken pieces off of it, though there is a slight bend in it along the bottom edge and the plating is worn off there and in other spots as well. Hard to find but do not expect the super detail of airplane desk models. I would suspect this was given to customers rather than sitting in a corporate office. Overall excellent condition. The seller is offering a very rare original slide of the US-flag American Mail Line container ship WASHINGTON MAIL as shown while off Vancouver in February 1972. Built in 1962 as a freighter for A.M.L. She was converted in 1971. She was sold out of the Fleet in 1975. This remarkable sharp sunny view was taken from a boat with a 35mm SLR camera using a high quality 50mm standard lens. I can attest that this slide is devoid of marks, scratches and blemishes as well as to its high quality, much better than this low resolution scan. VINTAGE TIN Has 2 of the same image of ships and windmill on sides of tin. Top and bottom borders are embossed. Marked on bottom of tin: CONTAINER MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY Measures approximately 5 7/8" high x 4 1/2" diameter. Wear includes surface markings. Scratches, oxidation and residue. There one minor dent on the container you can't tell looking at it. The colors look really good condition for it's age. I have made no attempt to clean tin to maintain current condition.

Starnes is known for their cartoon caricature faces and this little two-face is delightful. We were unable to identify it's actual purpose but I would most likely use it for a condiment display or an open sugar bowl. It stands approx. 3" tall x 3 3/4" across.
