It is very small and could be placed without being noticed if desired. There is an extra infrared illuminator that will brighten, in the camera's eye, an outdoor or indoor space. I don't think this one is water proof however so use discretion when choosing placement. This package comes with software for viewing the 4 camera's pictures on a dedicated or any computer. I purchased this 4 camera security system in a time when I lived in an area where I felt unsafe. I have since moved and have no need for it anymore. It was only used for 6 months. The 1 TB DVR upgrade is excellent and will record with the 4 indoor/outdoor included cameras for 1 month before images are overwritten. Up to 4 additional cameras can be added to the system. The cameras are not HD, the image resolution is great nonetheless, and the infrared recording works exceptionally well.
