These are extended or retracted by quick release levers. Pic 4 shows the tripod model and the head model. Pics 1, 3, 7, 8 and 9 show what can be done with the camera on the tripod. The camera is NOT part of the auction. It has been used for visual effect. Pic#2 shows the tripod with the lowest leg setions retracted and the center column extended. Here's a nice. Used, vintage SCHIANSKY aluminum tripod with a pan/tilt head. Made in Germany, it's high quality and sturdy. It's calibrated in both axises, and has a bubble level in the head. It does show some wear, and one leg has a slight arc(shown in one pic) but no kinks, and one rubber tip is missing from one foot. Heavy Duty Gitzo Tripod with Pan& Tilt Head. Maximum height is 8"240cm without the head. With the head the height is an extra 9cm when panned horizontal. Very tall! When closed the length of the tripod is 82cm plus head. Comes with a Pro Studex Extra Low Column. This takes the tripod down to 24cm from ground level(including the tripod head height) Also very useful when doing overhead copies on location. Also comes with 2 1/4" Camera Screws with Locking Collars and 1 3/8" Camera Screw with Locking Collar and some extra 3/8" to 1/4" adapters. There is a 1/4" Camera Screw with Locking Collar on the head itself. To adjust the legs to enable the tripod to be in a low position there are levers at the top of the legs which pull out. On 2 of the 3 legs the screw knobs are missing on these levers(you can see this ... morein picture 2) This does not prevent pulling the levers out to put the legs in a low position- my other Mountaineer tripod operates by just pulling the levers out and if you are familiar with Gitzo you will know that this is not a problem. Vintage Gitzo tripod from France. Aluminum and very sturdy. Normal wear for this vintage with Pan/tilt head. Adjusting screw to attach camera body to tripod is not physically connected to tripod so when not in use, I was always careful not to misplace it. Some rust on the pan/tilt arm but only cosmetic and still nice for collectors. I thought of using a compound to reduce the rust but thought better of it because of collector's value.
