I have used the device to observe deer and elk and other game at ranges of 150 to 200 yards' and under different stimuli. How they react, for instance use a game call, watch how they act when the night air shifts and moves to them. this has been my personal device. the monocular, carry case and user manual are new looking and functioning very well. The box shown is a little ruff on the side not shown but is very usable. It has been with me on a lot of hunts and field trips. Despite the wonderfully colorful verbiage of the description below. These goggles are not quite that awesome. They are very cool though. That much is true. They are based on 1950s technology so you don't see those green visions, you see black and white. I include a picture taken through the viewfinders but please note I didn't have the overhead lights off. These do NEED to be used in darkness or the picture blows out in white. These goggles can take still photos- I used my own camera for the photo you see here, not the goggles. As with all Night Vision items, they remove depth perception, an unavoidable drawback in even military-grade gear. So please don't wear these around cliffs or anything. These come in there original box with directions. The recordable part is REALLY neat. Stick any thumb drive in the USB port and you can ... morerecord on it! You can playback on the goggles and watch it immediately. But you won't get sound. Once hooked to a computer with sound capability, you'll hear that too. The sound is surprisingly good and clear. It is equipped with IR'headlights' You have the choice of low-beam or hi-beam. They don't both come on at the same time though. The item is light and perhaps seems less sturdy than it should. Remember it is meant to be worn on a child's head and that lightness makes sense. It has a built in focus to fiddle with, but it's not quite as encompassing and amazing as the description makes it sound. This is a Czech Military night vision set for a armored vehicle. This set is likely soviet made but is marked with the Czech military crossed swords as you can see in the close up picture showing its year of manufacture which is 1966. Of the 4 lenses you install over the armored vehicles lights to black them out and let you see when using the unit 3 are dated 1965 except for one that is dated 1967. I hooked the unit up to a lantern battery and it works well. I had to tape a lense over a flashlight during the test as the unit depends on the lightsource shining through the lense.
