Very primative hand carved violin case? storage box brass tag CJ McCarthy
This is a one of a kind. Very crudly hand carved violin shaped wood box. It has brass hinges, and a copper name tag nailed to the front. I'm not sure of the name but It looks like CJ McCarthy. Not sure about the"C" Look at picture and you decide. I picked it up at a flee market. The seller did not know much about it. I thought it was very unique. All carved out of one piece of wood. It has several compartments with sliding wood covers. I'm not sure its big enough for a violin. Might be for something else. Possibly a special tool. The lock is broken, No key. There is a crack near the hinge, and a little one on the end. still very strong. 32" long. 10" wide. 6" tall. Definetly a cool piece for the primative collector. It is in really good condition but is a little dirty. I couldn't clean it because I didn't want to risk getting the tag wet. It doesn't look like there are any defects or problems with the glass. Vintage WW2 Era Postwar Korean War 100% Wool Knit USN Navy Watch Cap With Tag
For your consideration is an original 100% wool Navy watch cap. Probably of postwar origin. This piece was discovered in a lot of WW2 era naval uniforms however the design of the tag seems to indicate, based on research, that this was produced postwar, perhaps during the Korean war or shortly after. It is my understanding that sometime in the mid-1960's the contract number began featuring the last two digits of the year, so this cap can at least be said to have been produced sometime prior to this period as the contract number lacks those digits. The heavy knit wool is in nice condition with no observable holes. There is one light discoloration shown in photos and the wool here seems a bit stiffer than the on the rest of the piece. Perhaps this can be cleaned out. The tag states the contract number as DSA 100-1225. The name and service ... morenumber are illegible. Please refer to photos for more details regarding condition. This is a very nice. Very clean Epiphone AJ 15E EB acoustic/electric guitar with original case and warranty card. This guitar is all original and in excellent condition. Original ebony(black) finish is glossy and nice with normal very light surface scratches from normal light use(black finish is hard to photograph so there is reflection and glare in the photos) It has mostly been stored away in it's case and is very clean and nicer than most(near new looking) No cracks. Breaks, dings or major wear. Again, it has very little playing time. The bridge is tight as is the neck joint joint. The bridge has a very tiny slight hairline by the the treble end of the saddle(this is extremely slight, minor, on the bridge only, and may just be a scratch, see photo) Pickguard is very nice. Body is bound top and back. Original Grover tuners are excellent. ... moreGuitar plays very well and sounds very good(even with old strings) The neck is straight with normal slight relief and good action. String height at the 12th fret is about 3/32" Frets show very little wear. Guitar plays very well. There is a slight buzz on the low E and high E at the 13th fret but it's very minor. Guitar sounds very good with nice tone. It has a factory installed pickup. Original chipboard case has the Epiphone logo on the top and is in excellent clean condition with normal light wear. All case latches, hinges and handle are intact. Also includes original Warranty/inspection card tag. Up for auction is a VINTAGE Western Auto Supply Company"Miles Bay" V-7355 in its original(2) piece box. With the Manual, and original HANG TAG still attached to the reel. This reel has obviously never been spooled or used and is in EXCELLANT SHAPE. On the side plate with the handle is stamped" Miles Bay Model No. V-7355. The handle is a swirled gray color. On the hang tag reads Western Auto Associate Store" then written in pencil is V7355, $2.59. That should give you an indication as to its age. You can barely buy a candy bar for that much. The box is SOLID but does show a little wear. On the side of the box reads"Smooth Spiral Gears, Adjustable Click on tail Plate, Hundred Yard Capacity, All Metal, Durable Construction. Prooflike Civil War Dog Tag Brass Gem BU Not Engraved/Used 32mm (Inv#4063)
This is one of the nicest if not THE finest dog tag we've handled from the Civil War. They were. Of course, all privately issued and there was little to no uniformity. Initially, Union soldiers took to writing their name and address on a piece of cloth and pinned it to the inside of their uniform to increase the odds that if they were killed their family would be able to claim the body. The weaponry was so brutal and the numbers so enormous that virtually every cemetery, including the those put up hastily after battles, had graves marked only as"Unknown Union Soldier" or"Unknown Southern Soldier" or worse and so common, Five unknown Union Soldiers" ultimately buried in a common grave. The identification quickly evolved to soldiers creating their own ID Disks by counter/striking various US coins and then manufacturing ... morefirms and die sinkers(not the government or the US Mint) began making disks such as this one. Some elaborate dog tags were engraved or die struck individually with a soldier's name. Rank, hometown and battles in which he fought. This one was intended to be engraved on the back as you can see. This 32mm diameter disk has sharp upturned rims. The designer's initials"R L" appear below the bust of Washington. This piece is 621A in Baker; thanks to a very knowledgeable collector and client who was kind enough to give me the high Baker number when I'd missed it. I assume that the initials could very well be for Robert Lovett. Famous designer of the era and with a large resume of works featuring Washington's bust. There is virtually no difference between the original 1861 disk and the 1910 reissue as I understand it. So for virtually all intents and purposes, you should consider them identical unless you have found some method to determine the differences between the two strikes from the same die. 1900s MIAMI AZ ARIZONA (GILA CO NR. GLOBE) "INSPIRATION COPPER CO ICC" MINE TAG
For sale an old 1900's mining tag/ exonumia/ token from the"I.C.C. CO. stands for Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company) once located in Inspiration(which became part of Miami) Arizona or Arizona Territory. This is a neat old crude mining tag from old Miami Arizona. Miami is located in Gila County. Not far from mining camps of Superior and Globe Az. This old tag was found years ago in the town of Miami Arizona. I believe these old mining related tags are much tougher to find, than people give them credit for compared to"trade tokens"typically when tokens were produced.the merchant ordered a minimum quantity from a token company salesman(like l.a. rubber stamp)of perhaps 100 pcs(minimum order) back in 1910. Over the years these tokens were discarded. Lost and tossed in a fire or dump. and only a handful of specimens remain ... moretoday.now consider these old Arizona"mining tags"they were typically crudely made, probably not ordered, of if they were, made in smaller quantities, and sometimes I think produced at the site(in a little shop)maybe only a handful made, nobody knows. This came out of a great old collection of Arizona mining tags.this is a nice one. Mining company tag is brass. Round shaped, about 38mm in size(about size a silver dollar) and in decent shape with natural patina(has not been cleaned in any way) intact. For sale. A 1900s era SCARCE old BRASS MINING TAG/ CHECK/ exonumia token once used at the old" N. C. C. CO. which stands for" NEVADA CONSOLIDATED COPPER COMPANY" near the Mining camp of Ruth. Nevada. The town of Ruth is located in White Pine County Nevada. Town goes back to 1903. And referred to as old"company down" for the company on this old tag.the Nevada Consolidated Copper Company. Only about 400 people in Ruth today. This came out of a Nevada token collection. Found in the 1980s somewhere in White Pine County. This is a tough place to find collectibles from. probably no new ones being metal detected, believe this is open pit today sadly) Typically. These old mining checks were used to let the mine boss/ superintendent know which miners were in the mine. I have been told these hung on a peg in the shack as a ... morequick visual signal of who was in the mine, and who was out.
