PEUGEOT 24MM MICRO ADJUSTABLE SEAT POST. From 1980's bike. ATAX. DELRIN.
This is a 24mm seatpost taken from a 1980's Peugeot racing bike. A Peugeot Tourmalet to be precise) It has a useable length of 205mm and came from a 22" frame. Weight on our kitchen scales is 240 grammes. It could do with a bit of a clean to be honest but I would rather sell items like that than give any false impressions. It is slightly unusual in that it is made from a kind of resin or possibly fibre glass but with a steel core. It is very difficult to show this but there is a photo which almost gets there. I have no idea why it was made like this. It may be to keep the weight down or to make it stronger. I just don't know and it is the only seatpost I have seen made like this in over 30 years of cycling. Like I say, it came from a 22" frame so it is not made for a childs bike. It is stamped ATAX which I presume is the ... moremakers name. If you are looking at this auction you will be aware how difficult it is to find a micro adjustable seatpost in this diameter. While operating they made quality knives like the Schrade"152 Sharp Finger" Since they have closed for good. U.S.A made Schrade knives have become a sought after item for collecting. SIZE: The overall knife length is: 7 1/8" The blade is approximately: 3 1/2" HANDLE: The dark handle is made of a quality synthetic material. That features a ribbed surface for a firm grip. The handle slabs are firmly secured with two metal rivets through the full tang construction. The end of the handle has a factory hole for a leather strap. The blade tang through the handle shows a little minor discoloring. Which is normal for it's almost vintage age. please view ... morephotos) The like new. Saw-cut handle slabs were originally manufactured as"unbreakable" The handle's metal insert plate is uniquely custom stamped: GUNS& AMMO. instead of the usual: OLD TIMER BLADE: The curved blade may not have been re-sharpened(but it is hard to tell) There are no blade edge nicks. In 1876 Dwight Devine took over the operation of the company and renamed the company ULSTER KNIFE COMPANY. He remained head of the firm until his death in 1933 and continually operated by his sons until majority interest was sold to Albert and Henry Baer who at that time has controlling interest in Camillus Cutlery NY. Ulster Knife Company made Official Boys Scout knife from 1923 until 1940. Vintage Four Blade Boys Scout Knife with Plastic Shield made by Imperial Knife Company Prov. R.I. USA c1935-1945 BSA Knife by IMPERIAL USA: I3– Plastic badge shield. 3-3/4” black handle, large can opener, long screwdriver. BSA#1996, c1955-1958 All four blades are made of high carbon steel. Rust free especially at the pivot points. Features(1) 2-5/8” long spear shaped main blade, 2) can-opener, 3) long screwdriver bottle cap lifter and(4) leather punch/awl. I bought this Knife for my collection awhile back from a friend. I have not used myself but the blade needs to be refinished. It folds smoothly and still has a decent edge on it. It does not come with a case.
