Offered is a vintage POWERSTAT from The Superior Electric Co. of Bristol. Conn. USA. This is a Type 20, for primary voltage of 120 and 60 hertz. Max. Output of 3 amps. I recognize this as a type of variac. But know nothing else about it. Has been sitting around in a dusty environment for years and is dusty and dirty. I do not know how to test it, but the shaft does turn freely and smoothly. I see that the windings just to the left of the bare area, in the vicinity of terminal 4, are a slightly darker color. I have tried to show this in the pictures. No knob or dial. The brown plastic/bakelite around the shaft is chipped or chewed up. The applied decal with hookup instructions is chipped and not intact. Powerstat Dual Gang Variable Autotransformer Superior Electric Model Powerstat 136B-2 as seen in the photos. Electrically this unit works fine. It has two sections, each one rated at 22 amps/ 3.2 kVA at 120V in and 0-140V out at 50/60hz. Please see the photos for physical condition of this item. It shows normal wear and tear use, nothing excessive. You can see that the windings are in good condition and that there is plenty of meat left on the brushes. Up for auction today is a 3 phase Variac 1 part Powerstat and 2 parts Luxtrol. This is a 50 amp variable transformer. The top unit is the Powerstat. We fully tested these and there are no dead spots in any of the 3 units. They all measured between 120.2-120.6 VAC at full throttle. It is rated at 7.5 amps. It has a 2-prong cord and outlet. This unit tested as working and voltages measure with digital volt meter from 0 to 145V. It is in very good condition with normal wear. It has some very minor scratches and marks. The cap for the fuse is missing also. There is one shown in the pictures but I borrowed that from another unit for testing.
