This is a used Superior Electric Powerstat Model 136 Variac AutoTransformer Variable Power Supply. It is rated at 20 amps. It came from the stock of a radio. Cb, ham, electronic repair shop that we recently bought out. This unit tested as working and voltages measure with a digital volt meter from 0 to 145V. The control rotates very smoothly. It is in excellent condition with very minor wear. There is one minor chip in the paint on one top edge and some small scratches on the control knob both of which I have highlighted in the pictures. This is a used working Superior Electric Powerstat S4006 panel-mount 3 amp variac in good condition. Also included are the mounting screws. The 0-100 dial and the knob. It has 5 connections that can be configured in a variety of ways. I tested the transformer applying 115 volts to connections 2 and 5 with the output connected to connection 2 and 3-the output measured from 0 to 140 volts as expected. The powerstat is fused. It is rated for 115 Volt, 60 Cycle AC primary and 0 to 135 VAC secondary. The powerstat is a variable autotransformer designed to provide a variable voltage to radios and amps. By slowly bringing up line voltage, one can begin to service these devices without risking full powerup, which could damage valuable components. The Powerstat is tested and it works fine. This is used Powerstat(made by Superior Electric) model 3TF116B variable autotransformer. Also known as a variac. It is rated at 10 amp, 120 volt input and 0-to-140 volt output. The input and output has 3 prong plugs, but one need to realize variacs output are not isolated from the input. I tried it out, and it worked as expected. As seen in the pictures, there is a spot of missing paint near the switch and some scratches, but otherwise the case is in good condition.
