Gamma Microwave 17+ GHz brick oscillator tested and working well
Here is a pretty nifty brick oscillator for your next microwave project. It is made by Gamma Microwave and is specified for operation from 17.65 to 17-81 GHz though it will work over a considerably wider range. It uses an internal crystal as a reference and I tested it with a nominal 103 MHz crystal and it locked right up. One useful application that comes to mind it running this at something around 18.5 GHz and doing a 4 times multiplication to get to 76 GHz and adding a 3456 MHz signal and you have a nominal78 GHz system. The brick has dual outputs so no splitters required for RX and TX. And to make this simple to use for portable operation it is powered by +8.4 VDC. Please see my other auctions for more great items. The unit became uncomfortably hot. The 15v oscillator terminal needs about 0.6A. The picture showing fm is the result of applying 2vpp 1kHz to the control voltage port. It is possible to mechanically tune the oscillator frequency from about 8.6 to 8.7 GHz using the tuning cap under the hex screw near the power terminals.
