Let me say first. I know little to nothing about stamps so may miss something important and I do not know how to grade stamps- feel free to email and ask questions or for more pix. I have a number of first day issue to list, see sellers other listings to find the rest. This is: a stamp on a page, marked on the bottom The Pittsburg Press, Sunday June 30, 1968. Stamp is Philadelphia Light Horse First Day of Issue, July 4, 1968. I would guess the page was an ad for the upcoming release of this historic flag series, which the owner glued to a piece of cardstock and then took to the post office or somewhere to get that very patriotic July 4th first day issue stamp. Please note pictures which are included to show condition as well as to display the item. The paper of this piece is quite age tanned. And is separating into two parts at corner below ... morestamp. Stamp has held up quite well, probably due to living in an air conditioned, heated box for years and years. I show front and back above, you can see how stamp has protected the paper from age tanning on the reverse. Stamp appears small but actually measures about 1.5" by 1" flag with large white border. The background paper is large, 10 5/8" by 12 3/4" Edges have lifted some(from being a box just a little too small) STRONG If you have questions please email well before the end of auction so we can get back to you. Die Press Head? I honestly do not know what to call this. It is a heavy metal cylinder 1 1/2" tall x 1 1/4" across with a recessed Encampment Symbol. I have been told it is used in a press for putting the symbol onto metal. It comes in the original box with a metal tag attached to show what it looks like. Please correct me if I am wrong. The rods sticking out the back are made of cast iron but then the front piece is made of molded bronze. It would stamp the Coca Cola logo and then the city Lincolnton. North Carolina. Not exactly sure what this was used for but it was probably used to press into glass or something similar. The logo area measures about 4" x 2¼". Dates to the 1920s or so and is in great condition but the first L in the city name is a little damaged. Guaranteed old and authentic!
