The seal is about 1 5/8" in diameter. The seal is made of what looks like pressed steel. Some types are removable but this embosser seems to be a solid piece. Antique Vintage Original cast iron C@M(Curtis& Mitchell) letterpress printing press. Size 10" in length. Base is 5" x 7" 4 1/2" in height, about 8 pounds in weight. This rare press is probably dated to about 1890. It has the original dark green paint finish(looks more like black in photographs) I am not quite sure how it works as a press because there is no rollers or a chase. If you are a collector of printing history this is a real find. I can't imagine many of these things survive the test of time. I recently purchased this batik stamp at an estate sale in the Washington DC area. I believe it could be from Indonesia and looks to be very old. Depicts a scene of what may be a flamingo. But not certain. Each piece is made from hundreds of tightly compacted strips of fine copper to create the surface pattern. This batik stamp has its original handle, a little lose but in tact. The surface measures 7 1/4" x 6 1/4" There is signs of use and wear. A few edge dents, one dent deeper in the top left corner. Please look at all photos and ask questions. Up for sale is a Framed Plain Dealer printing stamp. As can be seen in the photos. The letters are etched backwards so that when ink is put on it, it will look right on the paper.
