Vintage Butcher Hanger & Primitive Meat Bone Saw For Deer, Pig, Beef Antique
Here is 2 butcher hangers and a vintage meat saw up for bid that I found in an old barn in upstate New York. The slaughter-meat hangers are primitive made out of some sort of hard wood and are about 42" wide and 2 1/4" wide at the top that narrows down to about 1 1/4" at the end. I was told that they were used to hang meat quarters for beef. Pig, deer, or whatever. They have a nice patina color with a few drying cracks but are very very solid. The butcher saw is very large measuring 31" from handle to end of saw. The blade measures 24" Inscribed on the saw which is hard to see says: Empire Saw Co, Albany, New York patented may 29, 1901 and a large number 10142. The wooden handle has a very dark patina with brass screws. The saw is very well made with thick steel and a straight blade in really good shape held with ... morea large wing nut. Antique Meat Hanger, Meat Hook, 1800's Meat Hook, Dutch Primitive Game Hanger?
I finally found it! I've been looking for one of these for years.wow.wow! My wife won't let me hang it in the kitchen. Oh well. Your gain. This looks like a Dutch"crown" type game hanger but the hooks are much different. Whoever designed this had larger animals in mind. The strapping used in the"crown" looks exactly like a game hanger. The similarity ends there. This is obviously hand forged. Each of the four hooks is unique. The largest is a three tine and the shank is artfully twisted in the middle. It is about 9" tall with an 8" spread. The smallest is a"hybrid"lol.that is bolted and wired together. It is very solid as is the entire piece. The other two are pretty plain but just as awesome. I see the single hooks going for upwards of $70 and $80. HUGE Antique Primitive Hand Forged Iron Double Hay Meat Farm Hook Hanger
This is an excellent. Heavy duty antique hand forged iron double hook with loop on top for hanging. I don't know what it was used for but it was found in a barn. It is sturdy and solid, noting is cracked, or broken, and it is HEAVY. The metal has a light coating of surface rust and possible very shallow pitting, but the metal is very thick and the rust and pitting have only affected the hook cosmetically. It measures 29" L x 11 1/2" W and the hook ends are 12" long. It will be packed securely and insured during shipping.
