Leica pair of System 500 GPS Rovers w/CDMA network modems & PDL Base Station
Up for sale is a 2003 set of Leica System 500 GPS Rovers(TR 500) each with an internal 256 mb PC card for data storage. Each one has a receiver backpack with it and receiver antennas. The red. Leica hard cases go with each rover. Each unit is equipped with a Raven CDMA Modem(C3211- Airlink) that links with a Pacific Crest Radio system which uses one rover as a base station over a known monument while the other rover acts as RTK GPS data collector. The modem was also used to connect with the Leica"Smart-Net" set up in the State of NJ in 2006. These still work, but did not transfer to newer Leica GPS units. They could communicate with any CDMA network. All functions work as they should, the Leica representative fired them up this past week and pronounced them fit to serve. However, Leica no longer supports the firm-ware, or will up-date ... morethe software. Key-pad parts are still available as are cables, batteries and some of the parts listed below. The Base Station Radio system is by Pacific Crest Inc. and is a PDL Positioning Data Link radio system(PDL4636, 460-470 Mhz) It consists of a radio link to the GPS and relays the base rover site values to the mobile rover, correcting its satellite numbers on the fly. Pick a reference monument within 5-6 miles of where you are working, set up the base station, and get corrected field data as you work. Downside? You need to babysit the basestation because you have thousands at stake just sitting there. There are two 12v motor cycle batteries with carry cases, but these weigh 30 lbs each, so the batteries will not be shipped, just the cloth case and connector array.
