OK guys here's the story on this tester. I bought a bunch of tools at an estate sale. This guy had just about any tool you can imagine. I already knew I was going to have to sell this thing untested because I don't have a clue how to use it. But when I got it home and opened it, I could see some debris in the bottom of the case. Then I saw the place on the side of it that's pictured. So, I took the back off and I'm assuming that's a battery that has leaked. It has leaked on a couple other parts so I'm not sure if it's hurt them but the leads to the battery are completely corroded off, that's a definite part that will need fixing. With it staying upright, the acid hasn't got on any of the parts that come thru the face of the tester. It does me no good to sell you something then you find out what I did, so ... moreI took the back loose and showed it to you. I listed it as not working and for parts, that's as honest as I can be. I have to offer a return on all my items but you are buying this as is and should be no reason to return it since I've listed it as not working. If you know how to work this thing, your what I call, mechanically inclined and can probably fix it. I was a mechanic for 25 years and I'm positive I can fix what I see is wrong and that's the battery holder. I would still have to sell it untested because refrigeration was one certification I never got. I know very little about the structure of it.
