UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT SURVEYOR’S FIELD NOTES, flexible, thin hard cover, circa 1959, unused but the first page has a land surveyor poem written on it. Nice, still tightly bound. Last are 2 of the same LIETZ small pocket sized notebooks, 1960, unused ad pieces, graph paper, 20 pages or so. Up for sale are 4 pieces to this vintage WWII collection. By looking at the first picture the dark colored bag is what the field notebook and lighter brown colored satchel are in(Map is in satchel) All items appear to be from WWII as the Map is from 1944. The top of the MAP states: Pontecorvo. Italy"SECRET" First Edition. It also states Italy 1:25,000, Defence overprint dated May 4 1944. One of the most interesting things about this map are the numerous types of positions which are listed on the map. Just some of the few included are foxholes, felled trees, tank harbours, Machine gun positions, enemy occupations, and numerous others. All these positions are marked in red and are abbreviated. These items were inherited from a great uncle who was in the Princess Louise Dragoon Guards during the Second World War. This is really an ... moreexceptional example of WWII military map. This is the notebook of what appears to be an engineer team that was tasked with moving gravesites for a Kentucky Dam that was being built in the 1940's. I can not place which one it is and I am not a KY native so a good amount of this is foreign to me but It is full of names and headstone markings that might shed data on a large amount of missing burial plots in KY.
