2 mid to late 19th Century. Relief moulded majolica style green leaf plates, measuring about 7.75 inches diameter- printed to the bases with the Anchor RS mark of Rigal Sanejouand, Clairefontaine in France. There are some age-related signs of wear, as expected, plus the inevitable crazing, and there is a tiny glaze flake to the rim on one of the plates, but hardly affecting the overall appearances. For your consideration. A pair of Antique French Majolica Asparagus plates, produced by Clairefontaine, c. 1860. This highly dimensional SCARCE pair shows a grouping of three asparagus spears with beautifully molded fern fronds& a deep sauce well lined with a leaf all on a deeply pebbled ground. Heavy potted& glazed in a deep mixture of greens. Stamped Clairefontaine with the Anchor used c. 1860. 9 3/4″ in diameter. Excellent condition but for the usual crazing& very minor glaze loss to the high points. As can be expected. One plate shows more crazing to the cream glazing of the asparagus. This highly dimensional SCARCE pair shows a grouping of three asparagus spears with beautifully molded fern fronds& a deep sauce well lined with a leaf all on a deeply pebbled ground. Heavy potted& glazed in a deep mixture of greens. Stamped Clairefontaine with the Anchor used c. 1860. 9 3/4″ in diameter. Excellent condition but for the usual crazing& very minor glaze loss to the high points. One plate shows more crazing to the cream glazing of the asparagus. This sale is for a Majolica 8" Plate which was manufactured by the R S Clairefontaine Factory in France and is Circa 1880's. The Plate features a single leaf with fern leaves. Branches and flowers. The border has a Greek key design. The Plate has the R S Clairefontaine mark on the back, but is hard to read. I have included a photo of the mark with my photos. There is some very light glaze chippings on the front. On the back there are sill marks from manufacturing which is normal. The sill marks are from the drying of the Plate during manufacturing. Offered for your collecting enjoyment is this beautiful antique French majolica plate. Made in the Clairefontaine majolica factory which was run by Emile Rigal and Jules Sanejouand. Their makers mark is this one with RS on an anchor. This mark was used between 1860-1880. It features leaves. Ferns and flowers held by a bow on a stippled background. The rim has a pearled and Greek Key pattern. The color is a deep green with a glossy finish. It measures almost 8 inches in diameter. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. THERE IS A FROSTED RING PATTERN AROUND THE NECK. THE BOTTLE IS PURE CRYSTAL. THERE IS A PATTERN AT THE EDGE OF THE BOTTOM WHERE THERE IS AN INDENTATION OF THE PLACE THE SIGNATURE SHOULD BE.
