REFINISHED: Vintage Craftsman Tilting Drill Press Vise Machinist Mill 2 Axis
This Craftsman Drill Press vise has 2 1/2" x 1 1/2" hard steel jaws which open to a distance of 2 1/2" The vise weighs in at just under 9 1/2 Lbs. which is beefy for a vise this size. Completely closed the vise is 9" Long. It stands 3 1/2" tall and is 4" wide. It is definitely well made. Everything works wonderfully smooth on it. No issues at all. There is one battle scar on it when somebody's drill bit went a tad to far. You can see this in the very last photo of the gallery. The fact that a vise this age has only one hole in it is pretty much amazing in my book. This vise came from Craftsman's Crown Logo era which screams out the 1970's to me. The decal was trashed along with the paint so it came off too. The word Craftsman is stamped into the side however. Although in terrific physical condition ... morethis vise was dirty and the paint was wasted from decades of being in a shop environment. It needed a complete makeover with nothing spared. That's what it received too. I stripped it down. Chased all the threads, both female and male, with taps& dies. I left most of it bare because of the nature of the work these kinds of vises see however the base was sprayed with satin black enamel which was baked on and should hold up decently well. All of the machined surfaces were given extra attention to make sure they're precisely smooth and perfectly fitting. The jaws are in outstanding condition showing only very light signs of use. All of this shows when you go to use this vise, you'll never regret having it I promise. I sincerely hope you enjoy using this beautiful vise. The Tucker Vise is the best woodworking vise made in the world today. Seldom can such a statement be made. But it can be made of this vise and we have the awards to prove it. The vise has 13" wide jaws that open 12" and have a 4" throat depth. It has double guide rods. A 1" main screw, and it weighs 50 lb. The most impressive feature is the full rotation and tilt capability– the vise rotates 360° and tilts from horizontal to vertical and can be locked at any combination ... moreof points in the two planes. The front jaw is normally locked in the parallel position, but can also be swivelled 10° either way and locked(or left free floating) to hold tapered work. Another feature is the automatic opening. An adjustable-tension device opens the vise when the top-release bar or the foot pedal is pressed. Leaving your hands free to position the workpiece(s) The jaws are fitted with non-marring leather liners. Four 6" round dogs(two in each jaw) hold work up to 13" wide or 15" in diameter. It's overall length is just over 6" and the jaws are 1-1/2" wide. I took alot of pictures so you could see it's condition. Style, and size so please look at them closely. This is an original Stanley#400 Miter Vise with the tilting and pivoting head. This Stanley vise will accept frame stock up to 4 1/8" wide and it holds the stock firmly at a perfect 45 degree angle while you finish your joint. This vise will hold the work for gluing. Nailing, cutting, or sizing. The tilting head makes it easy to tilt the work for nailing the sides of the joint. I've taken every part off this vise and cleaned each one with gentle hand techniques. I've oiled where necessary and everything moves as it should without impediment. All parts are original and in top working condition and there is no damage. Repairs, or issues with this vise, other than some chipped paint in a few small places; its in excellent condition. My research shows the Crusader tool line was made for and distributed by Belknap Hardware(founded in 1840 in Louisville. Kentucky and closed in 1986) The Crusader line was produced starting in 1935. There is no date on the vise but appears to be an early vise. The original finish is 90+% The lead screw and bench screws operate smoothly. The condition of the vise is good to very good. Believe the vise is from the last 1950's/early 1960's. We are listing a number of them on eBay right now. This listing is for#6. It has an approximately 10" front and extends out to about 18" long. We aren't sure if it is quick release or not. We don't know a lot about these things but took lots of photos. It seems to work just fine- turning is nice and smooth. It is dirty with saw dust and the yellow paint is there from the school. What you see is what you get. Vintage Wilton Bullet. Date stamp reads 1/79. Jaws measure 3" wide, opens 5 1/2" weighs just over 25lbs. VICE HAS A CRACK. You will see in pics, actually cracked on both sides at base of vise. One side has a piece broken off. You will see this in pics. Despite the cracks, vise appears to be in very good condition, everything working as expected. Handle turns smoothly, jaws show little wear. Cap on back does have a dent. Nice looking vise& it's a Wilton! If you can weld, you can probably have your self a great working vise. Offered here is a very fine MACHINIST'S BENCH VISE MADE BY RIDGID: A 5-1/2 INCH JAW. MODEL 5000R SWIVEL VISE. This quality tool was manufactured by the RIDGE TOOL COMPANY OF ELTRIA, OHIO, USA. The vise is used. But in excellent condition. It turns and swivels easily and the jaws open without any problem. Behind the jaws is a small flat surface area for striking or anvil work. The vise measures 15 inches long by 8-1/2 inches tall, by 7 inches wide. The tool was probably used only a few times as the original orange color paint is about 90% present on the tool. Bolts are included so that you can mount this vise on the workbench. See photos for additional details. For sale is a rare vintage Wilton Industrial Vise model 804. Made in 1941, at the original Chicago location. This is a swivel vise in working condition and good surviving condition. It's jaws are 4" wide and open up to about 6" I am selling it"as-is" and it could use some new grease and a good cleaning/ restoration.
