A South Bend Oren-o-Matic automatic fly reel#1130 Model C along with a full compliment of what you would expect to outfit yourself with had you made the purchase in the local sporting goods shop back in the 1940/50's- box with instructions as well( 1946 copyrite! as an almost new line in the old letter ... morecode GBF/ AFTMA WF8F along with the beautiful black with gold and red embossing line tag- the only thing missing is the tissue paper the reel was probably wrapped in. They did that kind of thing 60 years ago. Reel in fair plus condition. Line- good plus, box- fair(see photo showing small hole in bottom of box) and instructions- good plus. The reel features the OLD South Bend emblem/logo embossed into the housing- see pics! Now the downside- non working/weak spring. I'm able to get it to wind in some line if I crank it up but only a few yards at a time. Spring feels strong( but seems as if it slips if I try and wind it anymore than a few turns. Maybe fixable but I don't have any expertise in that department. PLEASE VERIFY MY GRADING BY CLOSELY EXAMINING ALL THE PICTURES- Thank you! The center hole is 4 inches across and the bottom is 5 inches across. 2 1/8 inches wide and the groove is 1/2 of an inch deep. Themac J40 Toolpost Grinder from a South Bend 13x40 Lathe
Themac J40 Toolpost Grinder Model no. 2429. I have installed new permanent lubricated Bearings. Brushes very recently installed and are in good shape. I put a new plug on the cord. Switch and cord in great shape. Up and running great. All the pullies and guard are there plus a couple of grinding stones. But in truth I haven't used the stones, just ones I found in the shop. The belt I have for it are sweeper belts. I have used them before I rebuilt it, but I think it should really have the Themac belts for it to be at its best. I built a nice box for it some time ago and kept it in nice shape. I don't have the manual for it, however the specs and instructions for it are listed in the Themac Catalog available on their web site. Vintage South Bend no. 800 Perfectoreno, Very Hard Find, Nice Reel!
Here is a scarce South Bend Perfectoreno no. 800 reel. Only seen a few of these over the past few years. Very tough to find in any condition! This reel is very similar in looks to the South Bend no. 1250 with the nice red marbled beauty spacers. It is certainly a very nice looking and designed reel. This particular one works very well. Has a good strong clicker, nice level wind and pawl, and spins very easily. It does show wear from being used over the years as seen in the photos, but still a very nice find and addition to a collection. There are some surface marks on the rod blank indicating use of this rod. But I found nothing that would indicate damage to the strength of the rod. The cork handle is in good condition, but some of the filler has fallen out. There is no cloth rod bag or rod tube. 907) Four Reels in this lot. All used- read descriptions please. The first reel(largest) is marked Gladding group Hong Kong. The reel seems to work okay when bale is opened and turned shut. The next one is a Condor by South Bend and although is used enough that the lettering is very wore. It seems to work nice. The next one is a Pro Am by Shakespeare and this one is wore, but seems to work good. The last one which looks like a bullet reel is a Johnson Citation and the only thing which doesn't seem to be right is the drag. I did not open, take apart or clean up these reels at all and were purchased recently at a local estate sale. I will be listing several fishing lot auctions of items I have decided not to keep.
